Nonsensical beat detection

I've seen AVS 2.5.1 routinely pick tempos in the hundreds of thousands of beats per minute on one particular MP3 (which has a tempo around 100 BPM). Perhaps some bounds-checking is in order... 🙄

Is there anything I can do that would help to improve the beat detection algorithm?

Not really. AVS developpment seems to have stopped. You could write a new custom BPM APE if you want.

Actually you can't... an APE is for visual effects only, you can't modify AVS's internal variables. There's no way to make a buffer-save ape, or a custom bpm ape or a set-render-mode ape.

Really? Too bad.

Well, you can always write your own beat detect code in a DM or SSC.

Also, it's probably your MP3. Try pre-amping it down somewhat, and see if it keeps doing that. Then check out the filename and ID3 tags. If there's anything unusual, try getting rid of it (no idea why it'd affect AVS, but it's worth a try). Otherwise, I don't know how else to help you....

it only reaches very high numbers with advanced beat detection, switch to standard or just reset if you notice that the beat detecred is very high
