i wonder if simplicity is still in when it comes to avs?
because the packs i've downloaded recently is all mostly
about 3d and other other effects
simplicity

Well I don't know about others, but for Whacko AVS IV my main goal is to create presets that are simply interesting to watch, while using all my current AVS skills.
Even before, I've always tried to combine a cool effect with a nice preset. I could've created tons of particle-presets, or tons of volumetric lighting ones, but I rather focus on creating the 'ultimate' preset for a specific effect instead of 20 variations on the same theme.
Of course, everyone has his/her own philosphy on AVS, but it should always be kept in mind that it's still meant to be just 'pretty stuff that reacts to your music'.

Define simplicity; do you mean just a scope moving around with clear screen on; do you mean a scope with a few effects added to create something pretty original, but yet very simple or do you mean more complicated, using math, buffers, etc, but staying away from 3D?
Me? I'm all for the third option. 😉

simplicity = simple avs:ing, using at most 10 things and creating wonderful but simple
advanced simplicity = taking simple avs:ing to the next level using simple maths and buffers

Well, it's hard to classify. Many of mine use under ten effects and simple math, but I've never used a buffer. Mainly since I don't know how it works.
