Can't find many other forums for asking this question. Has anyone ever heard talk about encoding visualizations via one method or other (new format?) right into MP3, AAC, OGG etc. files? If I had any talent for performing music, I'd find that possibility enchanting.

Something else I've been waiting for is downloadable music files that already have lyrics, album cover art and liner notes encoded right into them. I have added lyric plugins to Winamp in the past and manually synced them. There were/are resources available online where one can update lyric tags automatically much in the way that WMP, Winamp etc. can automatically fetch artist, song title, album title, and track number tags.
But the whole concept of adding visualizations to compressed audio/video files just dropped into my head the other night.

the problem is that visualizations aren't built for one specific song [like a music video is] but are made to be played with *any* song.
hence it would imo be better to include a visualization file with, say, an album or a song but as that: a separate file.
either way, there is currently no support in any audio-file format for including visualizations. what you mean i think, is: "song starts -> visualization is automatically loaded".
what would be imaginable would be a sort of link tag in mp3/ogg/etc to trigger the visualizer plugin to start the visual. but seeing that many people use many different media players it would be a minority that is using visualizer X and all Y and Z visualizers would be unsupported. well you could hope 😉
or write a media library plugin :P

Well... If I were a musician who wanted to put out a digital file with my music synchronized to a specially created visualization, maybe I'd just go ahead and encode it into a DivX/XVid video file and make it available on my group's website either free, or at or under the cost of commercially available aac/m4a, mp3s sold online these days.
This might just be considered a new genre of music videos.
