Wfc6 kickoff

Stolen introduction for the wfc6 kickoff
Originally posted by denkensiefürsich: Well guys, I've been thinking long and hard about this compliation. If no one else offers, or objects, I would like to take a shot at running this.

With this pack, I hope to bring the ever-changing and evolving AVS community together and closer, to create one of the best packs of the year!
So this time i would like to run the organisation of the winamp forums compilation. As i think this compilation will be a worthy sign that avs is not dead yet.

Lets roll!

okay the deadline for the originals will be the last day of august, for the remixes it will be the last day of september so far.

wotl would you care sending me the passwords for the winamp forums gmail and deviantart account?
Warrior of the Light#
pm sent.
by the way, there is no winamp forums account - only one for plugins.

I'm not sure how much time I'll have for remixing but I'll do my best. I'm on my honeymoon in the last two weeks of september, and the two weeks before our wedding will be pretty busy I think but I guess I can find some time

should i enter into this for some awesome fun? im feeling very ready to avs. [after i release mattfury v2...]

thinking in months is nice and easy, but i'd suggest a week longer for the original.. three weeks for remixes are good enough!

I agree with Yathosho because the end of august is just some what short notice.

But i know i'll have fun.

what disappointed me with the last volumes was the amount of remixes. maybe we can think of a system to make people remix aswell. maybe don't let them have 2 originals in when they did not do a remix.
Warrior of the Light#
I have 2 originals ready. (which are both highly remixable).

But, if we'd go for a 5 week / 3 week schedule as yath suggested, which is a really good idea by itself IMO, I fear that I can't join.. there's no way I can create 2 quality remixes in just the one week that I'd have.

I thought about that too from WFC1 on, but I couldn't think of how to accomplish that: Most likely their originals are going to be remixed by others - and a remix can't be included without the original, or can it?

can it?

This community is not that large and everybody knows everybody (apart from perhaps some newbs).
I was hoping we could at least trust each other to keep our word. Sadly experience tells otherwise.

If you don't want to participate in both parts, then don't join.
ASD5A#
i highly encourage you to make two originals and remixes, there is plenty of time. as for wotl, if enough originals have been submitted before the first deadline, you will get the presets to remix earlier.

I don't have the motivation/time to join for this, but just a quick point. Quality over quantity. AVS is a creative process, and if it doesn't happen for the remixes, don't force people to submit substandard presets just to make up the numbers.
mykalReborn#
question: the presets have to be new or released before. because my last pack was full or remixes.
and remixes of the other people's presets submited here, or remixes of any preset we like?
and just to be sure. how many presets do we have to submit? 2 originals and one remix?
cheers!
ASD5A#
mykalreborn: everyone participating submitts two new presets until end of august, and then those presets get redistributed to remix.
PAK-9#
I'm in... I have some unreleased presets I can submit :P

Quoted for truth.

May i send too?
I'm relatively new to this "organized-avs-artists"-thing.
How can I participate?
Does in matter wich presets i'll try to remix, or is there a list with "to-be-remixed" presets. (Or will everyone who is in get a random preset from another that he or she has to remix?)

Sorry for beeing so noobish...

Very good question

Noobs normally ask off topic and or very random questions.
What you asked is very good. i do not know the answer but to me your no noob if you can ask a simple question instead of going nuts with random topics you need to know.

I myself was wondering the same thing about the WFC system and how it is really done.

I hope to see your work.
Good luck.
again your not a noob.

The way it works is everyone sends their two presets to an e-mail address, then two random presets are sent back for remixing once they've all been collected. The only presets you will see prior to the release are the two you can remix. That way nobody but the organiser knows what kind of pack it's going to be, makes it more interesting.

I like the mystery system, but I still suggest a more lax approach to what people 'have to' submit. It's supposed to be creative and fun, not a day in court, remember.
