AVS Alpha Blending

The alpha blending option in AVS is greyed out, though I am running XP, I can get it to go transparent by setting alpha blending in the winamp options, but AVS wont do it itself. Anyone else having this trouble?

that assumes that you're using the modern skin or any of the freeform skins which allow you to embed the vis windows (like avs) into them. is a limitation of the skinning engine as for why the alpha blending is disabled in that case.

Ah, so if I'm using a modern skin (Valkyrie_beta 2) that doesn't seem to have this option, I'm forever doomed to go without alpha?

no, if your skin doesnt have a detach button then detach the AVS window in the default modern skin, switch back and you're fine

Strange, no matter what skin I use, and after pressing the now obvious Detach-button, it's still greyed in AVS?

bump - I don't think this thread is dead, since jdb264c's problem wasn't resolved.

I have had this problem with every computer I've had since the gray checkbox first appeared in AVS.
It doesn't say (experimental) anymore, but it still doesn't do anything.

I set cfg_trans=1 in the [AVS] section of winamp.ini, but all that did was add a gray checkmark to the gray checkbox, and it still doesn't do anything. I can't think of anything else to try.

I have had this problem with:
Windows 2000
Windows XP Home SP2
Windows XP Pro SP2,SP3
Windows XP MCE SP2

As far as I know, AVS checks to see if your graphics card supports alphablending. Did you check with different cards? Did you perform a clean [link] install?

Yes to both questions.
Winamp skins with alpha blending work fine.
I have a lot of other programs that use alpha blending, and AVS is the only one that refuses to do it.
