Alpha blend for AVS Window not working

i am running XP, and the alpha blend available thru setting - display is greyed out... was it is disabled in avs 2.81 a, or for winamp 5 in general?

Yeah, I have that as well, which is kinda weird, since Opacity setting in normal menu does work.

Never noticed it. Just right click the window and do opacity.

It's disabled if you are using modern skins. If you use classic skins, it's not grayed out since there is no way to change the opacity through Winamp using the old skinning engine.
