AVS Visualisation disappeared after Lock/Unlock workstation

I am unable to completly understand your problem because you didn't describe it well. But I assume you mean it screws up when you dock\undock from the config window. If that is the case, make sure you are using the newest AVS version.If that doesn't help, Winamp 5 is a beta it has bugs, live with it.
Doesn't happen for me (XP Pro, rc10, Modern Skin)

? Locking workstation (cntl/alt/del) and the vis disapears. What did teh previous versions of WA do?

I prefer all visualisations run in "Desktop mode".
Skin is any, AVS is attached or detached - no difference.
The same thing with any version of Winamp or AVS, but not with Giess 2.
1. Run winamp (any version).
2. Set visualisation to AVS (any version)
3. Play music with vis.
3. Set desktop mode
4. Lock workstation
5. Unlock workstation
6. Voila! Black screen instead of vis-on-desktop and black rect instead of vis.window
