APE help

I was wondering. Is it possible to create APE's in a different programming language than C Or C++ ?
Phaze1987#
I dont think you can write them in any other language(try doing an APE in TCL or perl heheh)cause you might encounter this error after you rename the program into .ape : CANT LOAD IT 🙂 Stick to Visual C++, its the best for APEs.

I think Delphi, Kylix, VB and Java should be able do tho the work. Although you'll have to create your own template and can't use any tutorials because they're c related.

Phazey, there's much more out there than Microsoft offers, i personally prefere Borlands (or Inprise, as you like) IDE's. 😉

VB and Java
Does anybody know of any (preferably free) compilers for those languages?

Stick to Visual C++
I am not very good at C++ coding.

Sorry forgot to say this earlier. I have never heard of Kylix. Is it easier to learn than C++?

i never heard of kylix before too.
But i still prefer c++.
(and by the way hungryskull try using edit)🙂

c++ is easy once you get started, just learn all the basic structures from a web tutorial or something, thats what i did.

Or if you have enough money you can go to c++ classes, learning with a REAL person helps you a lot.

eeeek i hate it!
NEVER EVER EVER learn
a) a musical instrument
b) a programming language
c) a language other than your fist.
from anyone else but yourself or friends.

it makes a chore out of it and you lose interest.. that is why i cant play violin very well =(

-> i totally agree with that sentence 😁
And,wtf is with this APE madness ? Everyone wants to do APEs instead of finding more AVS tricks to do it... 🙁

i agree with siddharta, going to c++ classes and stuff would really suck, I hate doing that. and then lots of example codes are available free on the net

Kylix: this is very similar to delphi, but designed on/for linux systems. I think kylix should be freeware.

Going to some classes can be good and free as well, some universities offer free courses for students, apprentices and interested peopel.

Teaching oneself aint always the best method. I thought myself how to do Delphi, i know what i'm talking about. You need a lot of time and a burning desire to get something done, otherwise you'll give up soon.

You don't really need a free compiler, there are cheap student editions available. If you want professional or enterprise solutions (offer powerfull new stuff but not needed for root programming) you should know where to get it.

My tip for you: Don't use Visual XXX! The IDE is for confusing for newbies, even i was lost a bit as i used it for the first time. Try one of borlands products (Delphi or C++ Builder). Then do some simple programming to get into the stuff. Once you know how to handle things in one language, you can do it all - its just another syntax then!

taking lessons in something makes a chore out of it, eh?

whereas i've been taking music lessons all my life, love to play any instrument i can get my hands on and have been invited twice to national talent competitions (and got 5th in my division of all ages and instruments last year)? also, i've started several second language classes, and would've cmpleted them happily if it weren't for the fact that i've been moving between schools.
as for programming, i tried learning cpp - the only complex language i've really ever started to learn - from a book, and it is a pain in the ass. i gave up halfway through, and now whenever i try to sit down and code something i have to look up everything i do all over again. now THAT'S a chore.

lol, buddha boy?

whatever, i guess its different from person to person.
ive learnt piano, guitar and trumpet(hoho), VB, C++, html and some javascript, french and a tad of german by myself. The main difference is that noone i know is involved in national talent thingos. What instrument is yur forte atero?

Ive learnt violin and japenese from classes/tutors, and i cant do either for shit. I spose it it depends on who is teaching you and whether you dont mind being forced to do things or having deadlines (which i hate). Maybe if i had been doing it all my life i would be used to it and wouldnt mind. Anyway, what were we talking about?
shreyas_potnis#
well i learnt trignometry, vb, c, bit of vc++, a bit of java and html, at home.
i was taught gwbasic some four years ago in school which was quite boring
dirkdeftly#
i'm really good on piano, good on tenor sax, a decent singer, a kind of okay guitarist, and a crap clarinet player (just because i've been on tenor so long) 😉
Phaze1987#
i was taught pascal in school and a bit hmtl and now im learning c++.WYSIWYG rules btw ! 😁
IshanRocky#
nope i'm just in c++ 🙂
[/edit] our school here for some reason(i dont know) does'nt focus too much on computers 🙁
shreyas_potnis#
well, thats the case about most of the schools in India, not too much computers, we had gwbasic when i was in 6th std and qbasic in 9th..now i dont know whether we have computer as a subject. in 10th std. studies is everything for most of the people 🙁
IshanRocky#
we have computers in 10th standard but i guess you're right , we have to focus on our studies and cut avs........
[edit] not "cut" exactly just a little less[/edit]
shreyas_potnis#
the schools havent yet startes and we have to study, then what's the use of vacations ? 😠
