Question #8: How can I capture the output of AVS as a video/movie file?
AVS doesn't have this function built-in, but there are currently 2 APEs (AVS plug-in effects, see Question #5) that can capture the video of AVS to an .AVI file. After inserting one them at the end of the preset you want to capture, you can configure and control it through the component's configuration dialog (on the right hand side).
Note that these will only allow you to capture one preset at a time and will not capture transitions. If you have a problem with one of these, you should probably contact the author of the APE rather than posting your question in these forums.

try a program called hypercam, should be able to find it if you search.
By setting it to record uncompressed video at 15 fps I was able to get pretty good results on my P3 - 700 Mhz. it even has an option to record the sound also.

papaw00dy: these are APEs and plugin directly into AVS stream directly to movie files, not through screenshots. Thus, these would function much better for what we want to do.
I know what they are, I just achieved better results using a screen capture utility, especially for what I was doing. Using AVS to add effects to my video mixes that go with the audio of th mix.
Plus the APE are kind of limited in that when you change presets, that's it, recordings over. With a screen capture utility you can keep capturing. Plus being able to have the sound with it is definatlely a plus.

i'll try them tonight and let you know how i get on.
i'm aiming at 720 x 576 and 25 fps but if not possible using the plugins i might try using retimer to extend it from 15 - 25 fps or fliming from a lcd monitor is also surpisingly good using the mps counter as the timecode.
