You have the main Winamp player visible & selected, right? If not, you might have changed a setting so it's not viewable in the system tray or the taskbar, and then if it minimizes, it'll be running, but not anything else.

Let's start from the beginning. Say you start Winamp up, start playing your music, and then you go to the Winamp menu (upper left hand of Winamp). Then you click on Visualization, then click on Start/Stop Plug-in.

When you do this, it goes directly to your desktop? If so, try re-installing Winamp. If this doesn't help, perhaps it hid your AVS window under the start menu. I tried something, and managed to get it to hide itself under the start menu.

To reduce your start menu to a width of 0, you drag the upper end of the start menu to the bottom of the screen. AVS window should pop up magically if it was hidden. To restore your start menu, go to bottom of screen where you see a gray line until your cursor changes into whatever your cursors look like when you resize a window. Then drag it up to about the original location. If it's too big, just reduce it a little. If this doesn't help, I don't know what will.

Just offering a couple possibilities. I'll be gone until next Friday at sailing camp, so I probably won't get any replies you make in this thread until then.

It sounds kinda similar to this problem, only you have overlay mode on.
