AVS rules, however
Winamp => OpenGL or DirectX
Eather would make it SOOOO much more powerfull
At least 100x times faster
Please people post about it, help bring change

alan, you're kidding, right?
If not, then
1) What's posting in a forum going to help?
2) The source is available.
If you care, go do it yourself.
if you don't, shut up about it.

firstly your search was poor if you got back two threads. this is probably the second most discussed topic 'after how do i turn of random preset changing'
secondly the slowness of an avs preset (a well made one) is often executing the evallib code. the speed of this is not dependent on gfx card. also the architecture of avs makes it difficult to hardware accelerate it in a way that would make it render any faster.
thirdly opengl won't help noob preset effects like water and bump be faster, and lets face it... it these cool effects that make avs worthwhile... and not render/triangle, render/superscope etc... which are damned fast already.
fourthly, google for open source
the real reason to want hardware is to have new features, the speed increase is something which i would question.
