Overlay Troubles
After reading the other discussions on this topic I still can't seem to get Overlay mode to work.
My Win 98 SE settings are as follows:
-Active Desktop "View as my webpage" checked
-There is no wallpaper/no pattern on my desktop
-The background color is black
In Winamp:
-"Overlay Mode" checked
-Default color is selected
-"Set desktop to color" checked

Try unchecking view as webpage. Also be sure you're not in 256 color or ( ) lower.

Still No Love
I'm set to true color 32 bit, unchecked the view as webpage, still nothing. Any other suggestions:confused:

Try to use black as color instead of "Default color". Uncheck the option "Set desktop to color". Sometimes this works. (Worked for me in previous versions.)

I think I'm on to something
When I went into the display settings and tried to mess with the patterns I discovered that I can't preview any of the patterns. I reinstalled windows but still cannot preview or set a pattern to the background. I think this is linked to the problem somehow because when I looked at the overlay setting on a friends computer you can see a portion of the visulization in the "default" color window. On mine all that I see is solid black; the same thing that I see for each "preview" of the patterns in the display settings.
Anyone. . .Anyone??

And be sure your video card isn't a piece of crap. Overlay's the only part of AVS the gives a crap about your video card.
