Randomization
AVS is great, i use it all the time. The only problem is i haven't found anything that will automatically switch between presets (i mean there are soo many that are good). Even tho this might be a newbie question, is there anything that exists to automatically switch between presets? And if not why isn't there one yet??

actually i would like to see somethign with avs that switches the presets to a secified preset at a secified time :)
meaning preset playlist :D

Well, it isn't possible to do with a playlist, but it can be randomized.
Just go to *Presets/Hotkeys* in the AVS menus, select time, klick in, and voila :)

Yeah..
A few things would be cool..

1. Better randomisation (it tends to repeat the same ones) - actually I heard a suggestion for the songs playlists that makes sense. Make the computer drop any preset it's already played out of the random list. Then, once it's played them all, It can put them back in, and start over, randomly, of course)

2. Hotkeys for Plugin sets - I don't think it would be that hard to do. You can already set a hotkey to a specific preset, which is really usefull. But even more usefull would be being able to set hotkeys for specific preset directories, with the push of a button, you switch from random mode running one set of presets to another, without having to go into the presets/hotkeys menu at all..

The randomiser works well if you select "ALL" meaning all of your presets (if you have a lot), but on smaller preset-lists, it tends to repeat the same ones. I'm going to solve this by manually building directories the way i want them to play, but having those fuctions would make it so much easier..

Does this sound good to anyone else or is it just me?

I agree, it sounds really cool.
This would mean easier viewing of packs, and maybe add the current preset(the one you might be working on) to the playlist so you won't lose it.

OH YEAH!!
I forgot that one... I don't know how many times I have switched a preset to fullscreen to see what it'll look like and ended up losing the preset cause it kicks into stupid random mode and the preset I was working on just dissapears..

I feel your pain :)

Maybe just a similar "playlist" for the presets similar to the one used for the music.. can't be that hard canit?

Transfrmr, Just remember to check that "randomly switch presets" is turned off, then you can chill out & watch the stuff ;)

Yes,
But sometimes I have it on random, and then see something I want to change, and then get carried away and design a completely new preset or radically modify the one that I stopped it at. I almost always work on a preset in a small window.. Then, when I decide to go fullscreen to check out the results, it switches in 30 seconds because stupid me forgot it was still on random..

I've just taken to the habit of saving all the time..no worries.

yup!

new management rules for avs are the must.
don't u find it annoying that u can't acces presets in subdirectories
directly? or that after loading a preset manager always comes back to
the "root" avs dir? or this "by-copy-date" sorting?
playlist for avs (with a transitions) is must ...

transfrmr, keep your randomization on 60 sec instead, and remember to go off before the time is up. =P
Something else that could be useful is a little bar in the bottom that writes "ON" & "OFF" depending on the status of the randomization...
Rradikal is totally correct to... It's damn irritating that it goes back to the main AVS dir when you want to load another preset :/

I just thought of something else I really want.

How about playing through a directory of presets in order? Why does it have to be random? If you could play them in order, you could custom-create whole sets of AVS's to go together. I think this would be very usefull!

yup!

if playlist for presets would be too complex (but i don't belive in that) :) alphabetic order would be enuff.
And than (as El-Vis suggested me once) there could be a new Misc feature: Transition. It could be great to set which transition will
be used during switching to the next preset.
