Wfc6 kickoff
Stolen introduction for the wfc6 kickoff

Originally posted by denkensiefürsich: Well guys, I've been thinking long and hard about this compliation. If no one else offers, or objects, I would like to take a shot at running this.

With this pack, I hope to bring the ever-changing and evolving AVS community together and closer, to create one of the best packs of the year!
So this time i would like to run the organisation of the winamp forums compilation. As i think this compilation will be a worthy sign that avs is not dead yet.

Lets roll!

22nd July 2007 23:36 UTC

i'm in.. i'd suggest a release date for early october

23rd July 2007 03:50 UTC

I'm in. Early October seems like a good amount of time.

23rd July 2007 09:35 UTC

in.
[would've started a thread myself in a couple of weeks :)]

23rd July 2007 13:30 UTC

in

23rd July 2007 18:24 UTC

okay the deadline for the originals will be the last day of august, for the remixes it will be the last day of september so far.

wotl would you care sending me the passwords for the winamp forums gmail and deviantart account?

23rd July 2007 22:40 UTC

pm sent.
by the way, there is no winamp forums account - only one for plugins.

I'm not sure how much time I'll have for remixing but I'll do my best. I'm on my honeymoon in the last two weeks of september, and the two weeks before our wedding will be pretty busy I think but I guess I can find some time

24th July 2007 10:47 UTC

should i enter into this for some awesome fun? im feeling very ready to avs. [after i release mattfury v2...]

thinking in months is nice and easy, but i'd suggest a week longer for the original.. three weeks for remixes are good enough!

25th July 2007 05:46 UTC

i'm in too
:D

25th July 2007 08:29 UTC

im in, yo!

25th July 2007 21:22 UTC

Count me too!!
I think i'll try my hand at this.
good luck to me.

I agree with Yathosho because the end of august is just some what short notice.

But i know i'll have fun.

26th July 2007 08:51 UTC

i'm in.

are we to submit 2 originals like last time, or just one, or as many as we want?

26th July 2007 18:04 UTC

two like last time.

26th July 2007 19:01 UTC

what disappointed me with the last volumes was the amount of remixes. maybe we can think of a system to make people remix aswell. maybe don't let them have 2 originals in when they did not do a remix.

26th July 2007 20:25 UTC

I have 2 originals ready. (which are both highly remixable).

But, if we'd go for a 5 week / 3 week schedule as yath suggested, which is a really good idea by itself IMO, I fear that I can't join.. there's no way I can create 2 quality remixes in just the one week that I'd have.

26th July 2007 20:27 UTC

..an exception being made for wotl! :)

26th July 2007 22:11 UTC

I thought about that too from WFC1 on, but I couldn't think of how to accomplish that: Most likely their originals are going to be remixed by others - and a remix can't be included without the original, or can it?

can it?

-

This community is not that large and everybody knows everybody (apart from perhaps some newbs).
I was hoping we could at least trust each other to keep our word. Sadly experience tells otherwise.

If you don't want to participate in both parts, then don't join.

27th July 2007 01:38 UTC

Is it alright if I submit one original, and remix one?

27th July 2007 03:24 UTC

i highly encourage you to make two originals and remixes, there is plenty of time. as for wotl, if enough originals have been submitted before the first deadline, you will get the presets to remix earlier.

27th July 2007 09:04 UTC

thanks!

27th July 2007 11:28 UTC

I don't have the motivation/time to join for this, but just a quick point. Quality over quantity. AVS is a creative process, and if it doesn't happen for the remixes, don't force people to submit substandard presets just to make up the numbers.

27th July 2007 14:01 UTC

question: the presets have to be new or released before. because my last pack was full or remixes.
and remixes of the other people's presets submited here, or remixes of any preset we like?
and just to be sure. how many presets do we have to submit? 2 originals and one remix?
cheers!

27th July 2007 15:17 UTC

mykalreborn: everyone participating submitts two new presets until end of august, and then those presets get redistributed to remix.

28th July 2007 22:40 UTC

I'm in... I have some unreleased presets I can submit :P

Quoted for truth.

29th July 2007 08:52 UTC

beginning of september? puh, i'll see to it.

3rd August 2007 18:21 UTC

May i send too?
I'm relatively new to this "organized-avs-artists"-thing.
How can I participate?
Does in matter wich presets i'll try to remix, or is there a list with "to-be-remixed" presets. (Or will everyone who is in get a random preset from another that he or she has to remix?)

Sorry for beeing so noobish...

4th August 2007 00:14 UTC

Very good question

Noobs normally ask off topic and or very random questions.
What you asked is very good. i do not know the answer but to me your no noob if you can ask a simple question instead of going nuts with random topics you need to know.

I myself was wondering the same thing about the WFC system and how it is really done.

I hope to see your work.
Good luck.
again your not a noob.

4th August 2007 01:05 UTC

The way it works is everyone sends their two presets to an e-mail address, then two random presets are sent back for remixing once they've all been collected. The only presets you will see prior to the release are the two you can remix. That way nobody but the organiser knows what kind of pack it's going to be, makes it more interesting.

I like the mystery system, but I still suggest a more lax approach to what people 'have to' submit. It's supposed to be creative and fun, not a day in court, remember.

4th August 2007 14:04 UTC

Hey thank you for the information (and for amnesty :) ).

That sounds very cool - every one gets 2 random presets... .

4th August 2007 15:26 UTC

Shit, that's actually pretty good. I think you qualify for this compilation. ;)

4th August 2007 18:08 UTC

thank you :)

5th August 2007 17:42 UTC

HuRriC4nE, what's that link again? it says submitted by user. uncheck "automatically parse urls".

5th August 2007 19:57 UTC

yo, you're in too hurricane! :) maybe we can do a little sth together for the pack :D

5th August 2007 22:18 UTC

We can and we will! I have Time, the house is empty ...
we only need food.

6th August 2007 01:56 UTC

2 originals from me completed

6th August 2007 12:01 UTC

i've completed my two originals. who do i send them to again? :D

6th August 2007 15:21 UTC

winamp (dot) forums (at) gmail (dot) com

7th August 2007 23:47 UTC

Hey HuRriC4nE, finally someone with a great taste for music.

LTE will always be very high on my list of favourite 'bands'

Now i'm new to this compilations thing but i believe the mystery system to be a bit on the fun side because you never know who you are remixing.
but then again the choice to choose who you remix would be nice.

whoa, that was quick that they found out about you, hurricane.
and yeah this guy does like good music. :)

8th August 2007 14:04 UTC

hehe ... well, thank you!
hm so you also like kindred spirits - the song?.
(did you know that they're -eventually- planning to make a third album? the members met at the end of 2006. ...maybe maybe ...).

8th August 2007 17:28 UTC

i prefer the dutch label of the same name

9th August 2007 23:24 UTC

hm am i too stupid to understand your sentence ?
what do you mean?

11th August 2007 14:14 UTC

so i think i[/we, sitting at hurricane's] am going to make an intro for the pack. it's shaping nicely - in my head so far :)

12th August 2007 15:04 UTC

hurricane and i have made a preset together, but it's a heavily altered remix already. would that be okay? mind you, it pwns! really does :)

18th August 2007 14:42 UTC

sooo.... no objection to the two points - making the intro and using a remix - i suppose?

ps: and scrap the 'already' in the previous post, it makes no sense whatsoever.

19th August 2007 11:23 UTC

the presets are welcome, i just was busy the last weeks and couldnt check the thread.

so far i have recieved presets from wotl and mykalreborn.

26th August 2007 13:53 UTC

update:
presets recieved from mykalreborn, warrior of the light and yathosho.

warrior of the light i have sent you presets to remix.

27th August 2007 06:33 UTC

can't wait to get my presets for remixing. ^_^

28th August 2007 18:06 UTC

so deadline... 9th of august alright?

and we will hopefully have another participant on the line, being hurricane and me as a team [no group name yet], one preset is ready, another in progress.
I myself have only one ready so far but some others are beeing finished and will be chosen from.

gc

28th August 2007 19:28 UTC

i sended my 2 presets to asd5a.

28th August 2007 21:37 UTC

when sending me presets to mix, please mind my deviantart email is no longer active. use my nick name at http://visbot.net instead ;)

29th August 2007 15:57 UTC

? you didn't speak to me yathosho - or did you?

29th August 2007 16:34 UTC

nope

29th August 2007 17:21 UTC

very good ... so i didnÄt do anything wrong :)

31st August 2007 23:25 UTC

about remixes again.. i think it would be better if people receive extra presets to remix. if they can't do anything good to one, they'd still have another to try on. maybe this will produce motivation for the artists to remix. to keep the balance, there's still a limit of 2 remixes you can submit.

1st September 2007 19:27 UTC

would be good, but just one additional preset [three that is in total] imo, because otherwise too many presets might go unmixed.

2nd September 2007 12:46 UTC

So I just want to ask- how many preset will be at the pack?

3rd September 2007 01:44 UTC

are the remixes have been distributed? i don't have any.

3rd September 2007 16:34 UTC

only wotl got his remix presets so far because he is busy being married or sth like that ;)

4th September 2007 18:39 UTC

send out presets already, got a deadline to make

5th September 2007 20:27 UTC

whoa! not so fast, i just sent mine :)

...but now send them out! ;)

oh and btw: due to some issues with one of the presets [and thus lack of time] we [hurricane and me] won't be able to participate as a group. expect more to come another way...

6th September 2007 00:54 UTC

waiting for presets

6th September 2007 09:15 UTC

me too ...

8th September 2007 10:42 UTC

me three....

8th September 2007 11:45 UTC

deadline extension?

well actually you yourself said something about having a week longer for creation - a week into september [that's how i understood it].

maybe asd is busy again or he waits for the weekend to pass [like i suggested before], or whatever. i'll start to get angry on monday ;)

edit: in my suggestion i meant 9th of september of course

9th September 2007 10:05 UTC

so maybe mean at precisely midnight prussian imperial time? :p

9th September 2007 14:12 UTC

as said before, ill send the presets out tonight.

some private stuff to manage keeps me busy atm.

[afaik there are only 3 prussians on this forum]

presets sent out at 2 am bavarian imperial time.
as i see noone made an intro so far, ill take care of that then.

/grabs some sleep

10th September 2007 15:15 UTC

do people read my posts?
http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....67#post2221167

10th September 2007 20:12 UTC

1 remix ready :)

10th September 2007 21:06 UTC

:) expectable ... You seem to be the fastest remixer that ever touched a preset.

10th September 2007 21:26 UTC

it's easy, when the preset is easy to mix.. but i want to wait a little with the 2nd, so the result will be something entirely different!

12th September 2007 05:35 UTC

Obviously this pack needs a outpo then. :)

12th September 2007 10:22 UTC

outro?

12th September 2007 15:35 UTC

supposedly...
[get over here now! ;)]

14th September 2007 02:05 UTC

what is the deadline date for the remix?

14th September 2007 14:27 UTC

last day of september

15th September 2007 00:27 UTC

i've done like 6 remixes of the second preset. anyway, i sent an email containing both my mixes, please confirm reception!

15th September 2007 07:52 UTC

i've also sent the remixes. yathosho i might have messed up your preset. it's stranger than you made it. ^_^
confirm reception here as well. :P

15th September 2007 11:33 UTC

and it's actual one of your presets i made 6 mixes of :)

15th September 2007 17:09 UTC

kewl. can't wait to see it. i should say i'm pretty proud of my presets so i hope they look okay :>
:P

17th September 2007 19:27 UTC

strange... i only seem to have gotten a remix from jay so far

17th September 2007 22:51 UTC

I got my two finished so far.
but maybe I yould like to keep them and check them a few times the next days, before I'll send them back.
Do you need them fast?

18th September 2007 08:40 UTC

20th September 2007 17:55 UTC

mine have been send

22nd September 2007 22:17 UTC

@ASD5A:
Is it possible to resend a newer version of a preset?
There is a very big convo-filter that costs some fps that could be done faster.

I'd like to send a newer version of this preset.
I will send the newer preset when you give your OK.
(don't wanna mess up your email in these times more than it has to be)

24th September 2007 10:13 UTC

got my remixes?

24th September 2007 20:01 UTC

Hurricane: i will always include the latest version of the preset.

smokee_weat: gtfo my universe

all other parcitipants: DO NOT ASK ME TO APPROVE RECEIPT OF PRESETS, IT DRIVES ME SERIOUSLY NUTS.
ill drop those who forgot to send in the remixes in time a line.

in case anything went wrong, i won't fix it.. use attached file and fix it yourself!

12th October 2007 13:51 UTC

very cool pack.
manhattan is my favourite.

@yathosho - your remix of elektrolysing ions is very cool! I like the dirt

12th October 2007 19:13 UTC

hrmm, you forgot to include normalize.ape

/edit:
thanks :)

12th October 2007 19:13 UTC

i fixed it, but only because i was just about to upload it to customize.. this is the last thing i did for the pack, next time it's you!

12th October 2007 19:41 UTC

yeah i'll promise, i'll head wafc7. properly.

12th October 2007 19:42 UTC

also get vol. 1-5, if you missed them

12th October 2007 23:06 UTC

new .pimp file with normalise ape.. in case this needs more editing. remember, right-click and choose edit to load this into pimpbot (or simply doubleclick to install).

23rd October 2007 11:59 UTC

pretty good pack.
i was especially surprised by hurric4ne. very impressive work.
and the intro is awsome. you have an A+ in my book.
^_^

27th October 2007 13:09 UTC

it wouldn't have been a wfc pack, if something didn't went wrong
