wfc5 kickoff
(19:11:33) yathosho: well, i got a preset ready for forums compilation 5
(19:11:56) wotl: then start a thread :)

21st September 2006 18:16 UTC

odd number, but i am in

22nd September 2006 00:52 UTC

I'm in, but I can't run it this time around. I don't know where WotL stands on this or Yath, if you're volunteering.

22nd September 2006 08:59 UTC

I don't mind, but if someone else wants to do it, just speak up

22nd September 2006 14:43 UTC

i'm in

22nd September 2006 15:13 UTC

I'll try my best to actually do something real this time... I am working on a single preset (for someone else) at the moment... but my desire for making AVS presets has totally gone down the drain of late...

22nd September 2006 18:15 UTC

i can help managing.. what's a reasonable deadline? mid-november? my experience with deadlines is, no matter when you set them, most people send there stuff on the last day anyway.

22nd September 2006 23:15 UTC

Set it a month from now

..than add a month when it arrives

(I guess I'm in)

23rd September 2006 01:11 UTC

What luck! I just randomly decided to come in and have a peek, just to see what's going on.

I'm in. I'll have to dust off AVS, though. I haven't really done anything lately...

23rd September 2006 16:54 UTC

raz sent me an intro btw

23rd September 2006 19:00 UTC

/me looks forward to this pack.

23rd September 2006 20:11 UTC

i don't know if anyone heard of me, but i'm just curious if i have a shot of getting on that compilation

23rd September 2006 20:12 UTC

i like your stuff, mykal

23rd September 2006 20:49 UTC

glad i have a fan :D

24th September 2006 03:12 UTC

I'll have to take a look... I really haven't made any major packs lately...

Man, I've got to get back in the game.

24th September 2006 05:00 UTC

I'm in.

24th September 2006 12:23 UTC

well i might be in, only i doubt i can bring it on in one month
for those who are wondering: my dA journal

ps: raz? yay :) where did he suddely come from? making an intro for a pack series he never [?] said a word on... i'm looking forward.

24th September 2006 13:37 UTC

neat...

26th September 2006 22:34 UTC

Cool. If I find some time between other projects, I might try to get a preset or two done for this.

(I don't know how I'm going to top SSS, though!)

26th September 2006 22:43 UTC

Someone give me a deadline, and I'll bring down the overall quality of the pack for you. :D

27th September 2006 09:44 UTC

for the love of god keep that man away from my presets

27th September 2006 21:11 UTC

did: here

The problem was that Raz and Qforce wanted to join even after that the originals had been spread for remixing, so they were not able to participate anymore.

I'd really have loved to include Raz and Qforce back then.
Raz spoke of 'red tape' but that's not the case really..

The originals had been spread in a balanced way already. No presets were left to be remixed, and no other artists left for the remixing.

30th September 2006 03:18 UTC

We need to set a good long deadline. How's Thanksgivingish?

For those non-american among you thats november 24.

30th September 2006 05:51 UTC

I might be in.

There's that preset already lying around on dA, but I have ideas for a few more.

I guess I'll see you on the deadline?

4th October 2006 13:22 UTC

Let's keep focused. Let's get the deadline and everything in one post, so that we don't forget.

4th October 2006 15:55 UTC

Most people are really busy in late-december so I suppose we have to set the final deadline just before that.
If we take a month for the remixing, then I suggest that we take November 19th 23:59 GMT for the first and December 17th 23:59 GMT for the final deadline.

Is it okay with you guys if Yath and I manage this round?
(Please send in two presets, not one, if you have the slightest chance to do it.. it makes the remixing so much more fun)

the emailaddress once more:
winamp.forums(a)gmail*com

31st October 2006 02:09 UTC

You probably don't know me, since I'm new here. But, if you think any of these presets are okay, then I would be glad to join.

31st October 2006 12:59 UTC

just sent some stuff in :)

@ j.melo.. sweet jesus... thoes are the most impressive first presets i've ever seen!

31st October 2006 15:32 UTC

J.Melo: Nice presets! The only thing I could say is that Nuclear Core is basically a remix.
That makes it difficult for other people to remix just your part of it.

To prevent any further attachments let me repeat that all presets have to be emailed to forums.winamp[]gmail[]com to keep it at least a bit secret until WFC5 comes out

31st October 2006 20:13 UTC

Ok sorry. Thanks for the compliments.:D

Posted by Warrior Of The Light
The only thing I could say is that Nuclear Core is basically a remix.
It was a fresh preset. I made the oscilloscope orb, and decided to make a core to go along. I made a background that was origionaly a plain, but then I decided that If the orb were rushing through a tunnel, It would look 20x better. I just didn't know how to raytrace a tunnel so I looked at a tunnel by UnconeD, simplified it and put it in my preset with my own texture and everything else. It was never a remix.

What makes you think it was a remix? Is it simular to something youve seen before?

31st October 2006 22:41 UTC

In this case, with remix I meant 'not a pure original' - From the comment(s), I thought you just used his DM without altering it.

Nevermind my earlier statement then

1st November 2006 03:24 UTC

okie dokes

7th November 2006 07:51 UTC

/me has sent 1 preset

8th November 2006 00:22 UTC

I think I'm going to have to withdraw myself from this compilation. Not only do I not have much time but I'm also losing interest in AVS. I know there's still ten more days, perhaps I can finish up one that I've been working on (though it's been roughly two months since I've last looked at it).

10th November 2006 20:46 UTC

/me has +2ed the pack

10th November 2006 22:25 UTC

Current status: 6 presets from 3 artists (+ 1 intro that will send juice to your boxers)

For those who haven't done anything about their presets: this is your wakeup call..
9 days remaining people.

11th November 2006 04:32 UTC

Curses. I've put it off for too long. Fortunately for me, I have a nice long weekend to get to work.

12th November 2006 02:02 UTC

Well, I'm in.

I kinda used WOTL's Moo as a base, but it's altered beyond recognition, so.....

(That ok with you Wotl ?)

12th November 2006 23:14 UTC

sure, it's not like there's anything technical in Moo at all..

12th November 2006 23:41 UTC

K, sent to the gmail account. I might tweak/update it.

13th November 2006 17:25 UTC

sent in mine yesterday

20th November 2006 05:29 UTC

deadline 1 is over i guess...

sent one some days ago.
but for the 2nd one, since my sister failed to send me an older one to me fom germany, would it be ok if i send a preset yet to be created tomorrow or the day after tomorrow?
bcause since 4 days i couldn't get my hands on a computer, but i have a start already made and an idea and might finish it today or tomorrow.

gc

20th November 2006 10:08 UTC

I hope PAK-9 submitted our preset in time. Its so awesome and l33t etc... breaking mathematical boundaries as usual. :)

20th November 2006 13:53 UTC

[cue comedy music]"PAK-9 is a somewhat successful AVS artist, and he's just finished a great looking collaboration for the compilation. Problem is... [scratch cut] he missed the deadline! [fade in music] Now he's about to discover that being late, aint so great... in 'Collaboration Calamity', rated PG-13"

(Just kidding, I submitted it)

20th November 2006 14:24 UTC

The end of that episode was classic. :D

20th November 2006 16:04 UTC

Opinions? Can we wait for GC or does someone really need these four days?

(GC, you'd better make something groundshaking new or something that's _really_ good looking in return. ;P)

20th November 2006 19:22 UTC

Can you send out the presets for remixing and just send an email to whomever is getting gc to say you are waiting for a late submission.

Also, can we have a fairly short remixing deadline, I think that historically most people are done with their remixes pretty quickly (remixing is easier than original work I think most people would agree). Plus I think people are only going to get busy around the Xmas period. I vote for about a fortnight or so... anyone else agree?

20th November 2006 19:22 UTC

influenza got me, so i have little time/power infront of my pc. i might nt send a preset in before gc, but i like to rmx anyway...

21st November 2006 06:45 UTC

i'm leaving for a week as of the 25th so i'd appreciate if the remix deadline was after the 2nd of december.. which it probably will be but just making sure

22nd November 2006 07:24 UTC

ok since the time i have for avsing is *really* limited, i didn't make it to something submittable :P
i'm really sorry, guys!
but:

so i thought, try anyway.

but a fortnight for remixing!? out of question. the original deadline would be fine for me, but people are desperate, i know, so i could live with a week or maybe 2 earlier...

gc

22nd November 2006 13:59 UTC

Come on its 3 days past the deadline, send out those presets already!

22nd November 2006 14:49 UTC

feel free to send me stuff to remix

i might make one remix.... MIGHT

22nd November 2006 23:15 UTC

All emails have been sent.
Please speak up if there are any issues regarding the sent files.

22nd November 2006 23:34 UTC

I haven't been able to get anything coherent together, since I've been embroiled in the college application process. I've just sent in a preset, and I know it's late in the game, but could I just get some clemency here? I'm sorry it came up this way, but I had next to no time to spend on AVS, between service and homework and college applications.

23rd November 2006 00:07 UTC

Man I'm so sick of people giving excuses and saying how they MIGHT submit presets if we're really really lucky.

Can people just make the effort to produce presets or shut up about it.

23rd November 2006 00:46 UTC

Hey, if you give me the chance, they're done already.

23rd November 2006 05:14 UTC

I'm happy with my remix :)

You must really hate me.

24th November 2006 17:13 UTC

i didnt get any files...

use <my nickname> dot avs at gmail dot com

24th November 2006 21:24 UTC

I didn't see any originals.. where did you send them to?

I may hope that the basic rules of the compilations are well-known by now.
if you can't remix, don't send in originals
if you can't send in originals, then there's nothing to remix because it wouldn't be fair towards the others.

JFASI also asked for remixes... Do you think the rules should change? really think about it... I'll set up a poll: [linky]

25th November 2006 03:19 UTC

i've got one remix done and sent.
i'll have to do the next when i get back.
goign away for a week you see.
so bye byes!!

26th November 2006 02:35 UTC

So is the remix deadline sooner or the one posted on page 1?

27th November 2006 04:12 UTC

My remixes have been sent.

I think I've done remixing ;)

27th November 2006 23:15 UTC

why again did i get 3 presets to remix?

27th November 2006 23:38 UTC

You could've gotten 4 presets - two from two artists, in case some originals are 'not remixable' - but not everybody sent in two presets so you only got 3.

I'll repeat for everyone that you don't need to remix them all, aim for about two remixes. Please don't do more than two unless they're really good because there are 18 originals in total and 11 artists. Do the math yourself.

Raz: I don't know why the deadline would be anything else than December 17th?

29th November 2006 22:03 UTC

is it too late to enter?

29th November 2006 22:28 UTC

I'm afraid so. I'm not in myself.

29th November 2006 22:39 UTC

wahhh!!!

16th December 2006 11:54 UTC

The end is nigh ;).

17th December 2006 04:00 UTC

sent my remixes in, and they're kicking :)

18th December 2006 02:15 UTC

is there a release date? i'm all excited

18th December 2006 12:44 UTC

What was the deadline anyway (I couldn't find it in this thread despite scrolling through twice), hopefully it will be released shortly after that...

18th December 2006 13:13 UTC

It was yesterday

18th December 2006 15:50 UTC

Soon then... thats good.

Soon the world can bask in the radiant glory of the latest groundbreaking Jheriko-PAK-9 collaboration preset.

I can't wait for all the interesting technical and mathematical discussion it is bound to spawn....

18th December 2006 18:36 UTC

wtf none of my presets are included =( originals or remixes

19th December 2006 07:26 UTC

Oops that must be my fault.. I must've not forwarded the emails to the winamp email address.. I've forwarded them to yathosho, I hope he can include them

Sorry, Nudge

19th December 2006 10:47 UTC

Very good pack. The quality was much better this time around I think. No noob presets whatsoever.

But .exe in a .zip? What were we thinking here people? Getting around setups that don't let you download .exe? Pointless and mildy annoying.

So.... WFC6 anyone?

19th December 2006 12:14 UTC

thats alright wotl.. just making sure though lol.
and i think we should take a little break before wfc6 J

19th December 2006 12:20 UTC

Damn, i totally missed a cool idea. Start the intro off looking into the inner cube thing and bringing the wfc V out, then when the V extends zoom out to reveal the whole winamp, curses.

edit:
oh yeah, great fucking job all.

Sorry, couldnt resist.

Great job on the pack everyone. Dont forget to comment on the deviantart submission, let other people know how you felt about the presets.

19th December 2006 17:50 UTC

pack updated

20th December 2006 01:11 UTC

mm that's better.. but my originals still aren't there o.0
still a freaking sweet pack

20th December 2006 07:30 UTC

QWRFT!@eleventyone!1

.. this is exactly what I was afraid of that would happen if people don't send it to the normal address.

You sent them over MSN, right? I have them on my HDD at home, I'm at work here, I'll mail them to yath when I'm back.

21st December 2006 06:17 UTC

i mailed them to your gmail account.. info.wotl or something

21st December 2006 08:50 UTC

you did, but both mails had no attachements.. anyway, they are in the pack already!

21st December 2006 09:34 UTC

You could also have 'traced out' the grid in the cube at the beginning for some extra niceness :)

22nd December 2006 00:54 UTC

Great pack, guys. I'd normally comment at deviantart but I can't log in for some reason. At any rate, this is very impressive. I don't have much else to say but there is one special mention: Grandchild. My jaw fucking hit the floor when I saw your Class-Sick remix. Truly amazing, very nice job.

22nd December 2006 23:03 UTC

no.
