winamp2 visualization
there are a few winamp2 visualizations that i like a lot, acidspunk and punkie. now i cannot play them with winamp5. winamp3 has a plugin that i can use to play them, classic_visualization_component. is there any way for me to play them in winamp5?

just get the old winamp2 .ape (i don't think so) then paste in your ..program files/winamp/plugins/avs/
pick the ones that not included in your latest winamp version.
otherwise, http://e.deviantart.com/emoticons/c/chainsaw.gif it may causes an error..

I am confused by your problem.
The classic vis component for WinAmp3 was just so all Winamp 2 vis plugins would work as they created a new visualization system for WA3.
Winamp3 is long dead now and Winamp 5 uses the same plugin system as Winamp 2 did.
Please remove all traces of WA3 & wa2 and do a clean install of WA5 and a reinstall of all the visualizations. And let us know if you have a problem too.
I am still not sure if this is an AVS question or not it appears that there is no reference to AVS.....

illegal operation
it seems that some of the visualizations from winamp2 still work, but many (most) do not. For example, if I run Acidspunk, I get "illegal operation" and then the computer freezes. Milkdrop does not work, either. Any idea? Thanks.

do what rovastar suggested and reinstall, also get the latest versions of the plugins you want...
