Can't see overlay through alpha blended windows
Is there anyway to fix this? I've tried different methods. Using nvidia's nview program and making some windows transparent, and you can't see the Winamp Visualization through the transparency.. just the desktop icons. Maybe this belongs in the wishlist, or maybe it's not possible at all.

Also programs that have native alpha-blending/transparency support don't seem to show the winamp visualization underneath either, like putty or deadAIM

the way overlay works is by replacing a colour in the 'final screen render' with the visualisation. alpha blending changes the colour of the desktop from the overlay color hence breaking it.

this isnt a bug. its how overlay mode works unfortunately. its also non-trivial to work around, so i wouldnt expect a fix ever.
