WFC2... new thread
I'm game.

..send 2 presets to my gmail address before April 17th

3rd April 2005 14:19 UTC

I'm in.

3rd April 2005 15:10 UTC

I'm on.

3rd April 2005 18:45 UTC

Is there any requirement to join? If not, I would be honored to help.

3rd April 2005 21:30 UTC

school calls...i cannot really make any presets, sorry fellas.

3rd April 2005 21:50 UTC

and if we'd postpone the deadline a bit?

@denkensiefürsich: i don't see any reason why not! i recently saw a preset of yours at da.com. not bad

3rd April 2005 21:51 UTC

I apologize for being ignorant and not reading anything else, but what the hell is going on? For all practical purposes you can almost count me in.

The idea for Winamp Forums Compilation Two:
Everyone sends two original presets that you've either created recently or (preferrably) for this pack.
Those two presets should be presets that reflect 'you' as an artist, in other words, presets that fit your style. They should be remixable. That means, techy presets are allowed, but must be remixable somehow.

Then, after the deadline (see above), I will mail the two presets to two participating artists for remixing. There, the second phase starts - the remixing. By having two remixers instead of one as we did in WFC1, you'll have to remix four presets (from 2 different artists) and mail them back to, let's say me for now, unless Jheriko or someone else has different ideas.

After the second deadline (yet to decide) (when all remixes must be returned ), they're all bundeled to one big pack: WFC2.

4th April 2005 04:44 UTC

extend the deadline a bit and i'm in

maybe an extra week?

i wanna make something enormously complicated :)

at some point i'll fix the version detect in the installer script and send you a copy. it should be easy to see how to add and remove apes with version checks in the code

let me know, if you need help or code. other than that, please add a winamp-directory detection and don't assume everybody has it in $PROGRAMFILES\Winamp :)

4th April 2005 12:12 UTC

deadline shifted

New deadline: April 30th 2005
unless all presets are in earlier

4th April 2005 13:15 UTC

I'm in. I shall make a preset, maybe not better than before, but it will definetely be a preset!

4th April 2005 14:12 UTC

new deadline is goood! cause next week uni starts again...

Like me! Thanks, Yathosho. It really can be burdensome at times when there is no directory to browse for.

5th April 2005 00:53 UTC

hehe i use linux now :p (fc3 2.6.10-9)

I'm in... :)

5th April 2005 01:28 UTC

I assume that your gmail address is in the previous compilation thread, but as I really don't want to look through all 405 posts, could you possibly post it here again, WotL?

5th April 2005 10:04 UTC

It's on page #4.

and yeah that thread got pretty long cause of some offtopic posts in between times ;)

5th April 2005 11:28 UTC

/me opens Winamp and starts making presets :D

i didn't realise this was happening until after.. i thought i had some good registry code in there. but i made a mistake :P

thanks for the offer, but I have such code from other installers i made... btw if you could add support for new apes in PimpBot i'd much rather use that :)

7th April 2005 15:38 UTC

i think it's only the globmgr.ape, which is currently not supported. well, pimpbot 3 is in the making..

7th April 2005 16:34 UTC

cool. it does use a version resource already, if there is anything else you need let me know.

i'm a big fan of pimpbot, since writing install scripts is such a fag and mistakes like not detetcting the path can be avoided.

globmgr is all thats missing that we needed. i forgotthat texer ii comes with winamp :/

7th April 2005 18:56 UTC

i'd do a quick update of the 2.x version, but i lost the source-code of the most recent release :D

7th April 2005 19:17 UTC

Jeez another compilation already? I dont know fellas, I think its a bit soon for me. We'll see.

7th April 2005 21:08 UTC

well, i guess it wont be released before mid of june or something, so it's still some time to go.

btw would it be a big problem if someone contributed only one preset?

7th April 2005 22:37 UTC

You mean you can only build one good preset in a month?

C'mon.. just send two presets.

It's more fun for the remixers and it's good for your status to have two presets instead of one (+ mixes of course) to show the masses :D

For the remixes I wouldn't mind as much since there are two remixers now. (actually 4 remixes per artist would make the pack huge, I think ~3 remixes is a good aim)

Reasons to have two remixers: More variety for the remixer + a slimmer chance of having non-remixable presets at all (not that anyone will be submitting those because you've been told in advance, but... :p)

7th April 2005 22:50 UTC

no i wasn't speaking about me... (i'll surely finish the second one during the next weeks or so). It was just a general request, perhaps pak is more likely willing to join then ?!

8th April 2005 15:50 UTC

I understand the concern of going too fast.. But think about it.. The first part takes a month, remixing will take like 3 or 4 weeks too.. It really isn't that fast

8th April 2005 16:01 UTC

exactly what i already said above ;)
come on pak and all other hesitating ones, get a start! :D

8th April 2005 16:46 UTC

Then let others speak for themselves ;)

8th April 2005 23:21 UTC

yeah yeah... :p

sorry that i wanted to help... :hang:

9th April 2005 01:15 UTC

I've done my share so far.

* Tuggummi starts the long long wait for the deadline

9th April 2005 04:47 UTC

Well I dont want to sound elitist to all you pathetic noobs below me (oops, too late), but it takes longer for me to make a preset than you, plus I have to balance it with real life(tm), watching The Simpsons and jerking off to pr0... er... other miscellaneous stuff.

Not to mention I'm making presets for my pack as well. For me a deadline of 3 weeks is pretty short, I cant guarentee anything.

9th April 2005 09:31 UTC

Im still more sexy than you.

So njeh njeh njeh :p

9th April 2005 11:51 UTC

pak just doesn't want to admit that he's too uncreative :p

joking apart, i hope that you still can contribute a preset, would be nice to have you in...

9th April 2005 16:27 UTC

Hi , i´m quite new to avs ,
but would enjoy to contribute to the comp.
/me stop working for own pack

10th April 2005 08:06 UTC

i'm currently in a phase of no creativity, but i'll give it my best, so

i'm in

12th April 2005 00:29 UTC

I don't know if I'll be able to submit, because in 3 - 4 weeks we should have:

12th April 2005 19:13 UTC

I think i speak for everyone when i say that nobody really wants you to be a part of this pack, MaTTFURY. So it's no problem if you don't quite "make it" :p

14th April 2005 11:12 UTC

yeah, i'm really lacking creativity right now. i need every preset i make to go towards v7. so i'm going to have to pull out of this one. sorry guys. but i may make something, you never know. but i'm most likely not going to. sorry again guys

14th April 2005 18:15 UTC

shoot, and i forgot what WFC was >.>

15th April 2005 18:14 UTC

sent my presets already. would'nt get much time after 17th Apr, so i did my best with this much time :)

19th April 2005 01:55 UTC

Did I miss the deadline yet? If I contribute could it be one preset and one remix since I am so busy (lazy).

19th April 2005 03:59 UTC

I've made four presets for this pack already, but I don't think they're exactly "remix-able", so I'm really contemplating even sending them in. What do you guys think?

19th April 2005 16:00 UTC

DenkenSieFurSich:
Please mail them to me and I'll give you feedback..
You could send all four of them if you'd like and we'll share ideas (through PM's, mail or whatever).

Question to all:
Shylent (known only by those who frequent #FF) wants to join.. Opinions?
Should we
<> Say no because he has never posted a single post here and since this is a winamp forums compilation..
or
<> Say yes because of 'the more the merrier' ?

19th April 2005 17:59 UTC

i say I am swamped with work (4 weeks left of school, ever), and will be unable to make a preset by the deadline.

However, I should be able to crank out some remixes as they take less time.

19th April 2005 19:15 UTC

WOtL: You can search for my posts. I have like 5 of them :) I bet. And I dont think that those presets are total junk, anyway.
edit: exactly 11 :)

19th April 2005 22:09 UTC

ok, what about that: shylent posts let's say 2 posts a day untill the deadline. Then we can call him a frequent forums member ;)

Joking apart, as we already said in the beginning this project should be a pack made by the "more or less frequent ones at wa.com". And since i'm running into some problems finishing my work, too (like everyone does recently...) i'd also say the more the better. So we could still concentrate on the remixing part.

19th April 2005 23:14 UTC

sorry, shy.. must have missed them

welcome to the compilation!

/edit: reads theads.. I DO remember you!

19th April 2005 23:49 UTC

hehe, mr.Rattaplan! Anyway, could you please tell me how is the "remixing" part organized? Because I want to make some remixes, too...

Yea, and thanks alot :)

19th April 2005 23:56 UTC

everyone sends in his work to wotl, who randomly forwards the presets made by two artist's to one participator. Then you have the opportunity to choose the presets you like most and remix them. Afterwards the remixes are also going to get collected and complied (together with the 'normal' presets) to one huge pack.

20th April 2005 00:38 UTC

Thanks for the help. It seems I've finally gotten a hand

29th April 2005 15:40 UTC

Tomorrow would be the last day to submit presets.
I'll be away until May 4th so the deadline will be extended to that day.
The 5th I will spread the presets.

C'mon people, I've hardly received any presets!!
Don't start discussing why, rather create presets for the compilation instead

29th April 2005 18:00 UTC

Just sent mine in.

What should be the deadline for the remixes?

29th April 2005 18:32 UTC

going to send my preset tomorrow. (sorry i won't finish the second one in time... ).

for the remixes we should say another 3-4 weeks? Not too short, cause untill end of march i'll still have pretty much stress with my studies.

1st May 2005 04:33 UTC

Meh.. I missed the deadline... oh well. Can I still make the intro? Heres a little something I've whipped up. There is a little z-fighting but I can remove that by subdividing the tris a bit.

Who wants their name in 3D text?

needs latest ver of triangle that i didnt already have... so i've included it in the zip (its on devart).

1st May 2005 04:58 UTC

Quote:

1st May 2005 06:09 UTC

I dont mind doing everyones names and some obscenely complicated animation method on account of its all just 3d models converted to gvm and the z-buffering makes the occlusion quite easy.

may 4th... that should give me enough time to finish the textured model preset that I am working on. :)

1st May 2005 09:19 UTC

Heres a slightly better version of that text, with some colour change and more detail and some different subdivision to hide more z-fighting. The W is still a bit messy and i need to subdivide it more, also i left a few tris inside of the N by mistake and sometimes they 'pop through'.

If anyone has any cool ideas for this intro let me know... as long as they revolve around 3d text i could probably work it in somehow :)

1st May 2005 10:58 UTC

maybe i should have waited until i got bored of working on this for a bit :P like now... heres how it looks now, i put a point light at the camera pos instead of the directional light and added specularity, these changes look okay because everything is subdivided so much, infact combined with the fadeout in the background i think it looks awesome.

feedback appreciated.

uses the same gvms as the previous ver (wfc2_w and wfc2_r)

1st May 2005 11:48 UTC

hey that intro is awesome jheriko!
i don't know how much work it'd be. but what about starting the intro as it is and then moving the title a bit to the top. Now the names of the participants could appear from one side, stay a few seconds in the middle and then disappear to the other side. (Hope you get my idea.. ;))

So, it would be cool if you could add my name in 3D text either! Going to send my preset to wotl in 5 minutes!

1st May 2005 13:59 UTC

you mean something like this?

notice the almost zero z-fighting :)

i had to put the gvms in a rar in a zip so that they were less than 102400... i'm sick of pumping my post count with continual attachment :P

overwrite the old gvms with these. it colors the 'winamp forums' text gold

1st May 2005 16:10 UTC

hey cool! that's what i meant!

But could you perhaps make the name appear a bit later?! Cause the two objects come too close in my eyes. I'd wait untill "winamp forums" is at the top, before the name should come in.

Nevertheless, the lightning and reflections are awesome!

1st May 2005 17:22 UTC

denkensiefursic, goddamnit! such a long name that i had to rar the file containg the model for it before i zipped it. :P still it looks all the more awesome with bigger words...

I havent subdivided that name yet so its very z-fighty, you can see how many triangles are there in some places.. i tweaked the timings and movement a bit more... tell me what you think.

needs the previous files

wfc2_n1.gvm
wfc2_r.gvm
wfc2_g.gvm
wfc2_w.gvm

i'll compact all the models into one file for the pack, or we could stick them in the subdir... whichever is prefered (one fairly chunky file or lots of small ones?) btw this is quite size hungry... its already about 2-3mb :P

1st May 2005 18:29 UTC

yeah yeah... but it's just so cool! ;) Isn't it possible in any way to reduce the filesize for the pack? I guess a 10mb packsize (containing all member's names as 3D-text) is a bit too huge, isn't it?

for the 'gvm files: i'd say there should be only one file in the pack, just to avoid confusion. Some unfamiliar people might think that those files are broken presets and wonder 'bout it (delete them etc).

1st May 2005 19:07 UTC

You're gonna hate to hear this then: there should also be an 'h' on the end. denkensiefursich is how it should be.:p The forums wouldn't allow the last letter, only 15 characters. :(

But besides the point, when I open the preset I don't see ^..^'s or my name. The "Winamp Forums II" renders, moves to the center, then moves up a bit more, and then I waited... and waited... and nothing came. Any clue why this is?

1st May 2005 19:23 UTC

perhaps you forgot to put the needed *.gvm files into your avs folder? And do you have the latest version of triangle.ape?

1st May 2005 19:30 UTC

I thought about that, checked everything I could think of. I dl'd the past 5 zips and put them straight into winamp\plugins\avs. J said he included the latest version of triangle.ape in the first zip so I don't know... I gotta feeling it's time for my 21st winamp reinstall.

1st May 2005 19:38 UTC

good luck then!

i don't know what else could be the cause of it then.

1st May 2005 20:21 UTC

odd that it doesnt work properly. try getting the new globmgr from the model thread if you dont already have it.

that h wont be too much of a problem sketchup makes stuff pretty easy

5th May 2005 15:59 UTC

I'm back...

For the next deadline (for the remixes).. three weeks? four? or simply the end of the month again?

/votes for end of the month

5th May 2005 17:02 UTC

/me thirds vote

Although I only need a couple O'days with my nolife status, but that's just me.

5th May 2005 17:22 UTC

i vote for a month for the remixes, cause i have something called 'real life' to care about (no offense). actually i have to care a lot about uni atm.

5th May 2005 18:28 UTC

I forgot to tell you something: I have NEVER EVER made a single remix :P

I'll try my best tho

5th May 2005 18:28 UTC

Well end of the month = month... sorta. Almost. Who needs 5 days anyways?

5th May 2005 20:21 UTC

Let me remix please, even though I've had no time or inspiration to make any presets.

5th May 2005 21:05 UTC

ok tug, let's say end of may. also, can keep that in mind better :)

5th May 2005 21:27 UTC

:: End of this month (= May 31th) it is then. ::

Mysterious_W: the presets have already been spread, but I'll see if I can send you some fun ones.

6th May 2005 18:43 UTC

could post who got who´s presets to remix.
i wonder who has to cope with my shit.

6th May 2005 18:47 UTC

It's a secret. That way when the pack is released, it's a surprise! ;)

6th May 2005 19:11 UTC

Yeah only god...*ahem* WotL knows :p

9th May 2005 07:28 UTC

nice to have complete list of names i can finish modelling that text... will mail intro and fixed installer script when its done.

sorry i didnt make the deadline btw. i was working on something but i had some work come up and am incredibly broke atm... i guess i can refashion it into something for my pack :)

9th May 2005 10:47 UTC

did you make any other presets except the intro, jheriko?
If so, couldn't you add them wotl? Also, then you'd have something for mysterious_w to remix! :)

9th May 2005 12:34 UTC

New entries are welcome (of course), but I can't promise anything about them.
It all depends on who still likes some extra work within the deadline that keeps coming closer.

So if anyone wants some stuff remixed, be fast and hope the other artists have no real life.

10th May 2005 17:31 UTC

heres one of my favorate presets from one of my paks that i made once in a blue moon a long time once past...

[edit]yeah, its kinda basic :P remix away!! :D[/edit]

10th May 2005 18:19 UTC

Hmm I was about to say that presets should be mailed to me, and shared afterwards, but posting here is even a better idea...

for all potential remixers on this^:
don't post the remix here, but just a note that you did (to prevent seeing this preset in tenfold) and send the remix to me, to keep the mystery going..

10th May 2005 20:37 UTC

sorry, no additional time left. Im already spending too much time on the submitted presets! ;)

11th May 2005 11:04 UTC

alooo..!! i'm new members!!

11th May 2005 11:32 UTC

here is the other thing i was working on. its not finished at all yet :P

i still need to finish a new lighting model and to change the camera and crap to synch with a dm. optimise the model by removing redundant subdivisions and adding new ones to remove some more of the z-fighting (there is some still there if you look at the small details and edges of the wings), then cut it into thirds again and fill the engine holes with some texer ii... etc... basically... a lot more than a couple of minutes work :P

check it out anyway. its just the model with a 'light at camera' hax lighting system so you can see the texture materials etc... its a 2 part rar file which i then put the 2 parts into zip so they would be under the size limit... sorry for the hassle. the uncompressed gvm is 3mb :P

11th May 2005 11:34 UTC

...

11th May 2005 13:08 UTC

wow, that plane is so cool! And all those details!
How much time did you spent with designing the model?

11th May 2005 17:00 UTC

i couldnt tell you how long it took... several 'a few hour' sessions with winamp/sketch-up/objconv. The base model only took about 20-30 mins, but subdivision an adding details took up the rest

11th May 2005 17:24 UTC

i'd say it was worth all the work! (btw: am i correct, assuming that the final version will fly accordingly to the music?)

11th May 2005 20:33 UTC

just wait and see the final version.

lets just say it will be a preset, instead of a demonstration... for once :P

11th May 2005 20:39 UTC

that 'flying' was just an idea...
i don't doubt that the final version will be bad in any way... ;)

/edit: btw (getting back to topic a bit), what was the 'guide value' for the number of remixes actually?

11th May 2005 22:41 UTC

~3

11th May 2005 22:58 UTC

ok. so i guess you won't exclude me when i only make 2...

11th May 2005 23:10 UTC

You will be held captive in an oildrum for 3 weeks and after those 3 weeks the drum will be filled with concrete but you won't be excluded.

:p

11th May 2005 23:16 UTC

pah... as long as it isn't really painful... who cares ;)

26th May 2005 15:29 UTC

My remixes are on the way!

Hope you didn't forget about this project folks!? :)

26th May 2005 15:46 UTC

whenever the deadline is i'll prolly be late by too much :P

26th May 2005 15:57 UTC

in case you want to know the exact number of days that you'll be too late: ;)

Deadline was: 31th of May

26th May 2005 16:38 UTC

I send my presets in two times about 2 weeks ago. Wondering though did wotl get them because he didn't reply to the second one.

26th May 2005 19:08 UTC

I've decided that I suck at remixing. The first one went off without a hitch, but I'm having a lot of trouble with the other artist. If I can't whip something up quick, I may have to submit just one remix.

Along with Tugg, I'm wonding if WotL received my original presets. I submitted them twice, the second time with updated versions. One of my remixers PMd me and described receiving the first versions. Hopefully, though, the revised ones will make it into the pack. :)

You mean it IS the 31st of May, or were you using the past continuous tense without a clause?

26th May 2005 21:38 UTC

I think he ment the deadline for originals was last month (don't recall the exact date), but the deadline for remixes is 31st of May.

26th May 2005 22:51 UTC

oh... i'm sorry... i used the past tense to remember what wotl said before. it'd also be wrong if i wrote it in German but it's a common colloquial mistake which i unintentionally transferred to the English language. Actually the remix-deadline is 31st of May. No changes there. Sorry again. :hang:

27th May 2005 11:49 UTC

hehe I was going to say was? my system clock needs to be rebooted :p

27th May 2005 16:00 UTC

--- I need remixes---

By now, I've only received the remixes from:

  • ^..^
  • Mysterious_W
  • (Tuggummi's presets are on their way I hope)

Indeed, deadline's the 31st.

With no more remixes, There's not much remixes to create the pack we were all hoping for.

GET BUSY! (j/k) :p

27th May 2005 20:01 UTC

Are on their way?
Did you or did you not get my second email? :igor:

You replied to the first one and said *coughattachmentcough* and then i send you another email.

I did attach the file to both emails, i can see that i did in my outbox.

27th May 2005 20:20 UTC

that's all pretty strange this time... :weird:

28th May 2005 09:39 UTC

i never received any presets to remix

28th May 2005 11:05 UTC

anyways I'm busy with Mr Nudges mix(es) :p

It would definetly seem so...
Hehe, this is why i always use webmail. Never had any problems :D

Hopefully i got my mixes in by other means now...

28th May 2005 13:53 UTC

im still wondeding bout that. Cause he normally uses gmail, which never made any problems for me...

Let's hope that our work wasn't in vain and this pack still can be finished...

I never got the attachments, but your PM worked

@MrNudge: my outbox shows I did send you an email.. together with the other artists..
Strange.. I'm not using any email program, just gmail.com in Maxthon :igor:

29th May 2005 09:11 UTC

you may have sent something, but i never received it.

29th May 2005 15:25 UTC

Sending my remixes in 5 minutes. Hope it works

29th May 2005 18:17 UTC

i'm working on the intro atm. almost finished, i'll try my best to get it all done by 31st as well as the other preset.

29th May 2005 18:20 UTC

good luck with that!

let's hope there won't be any more complications...

29th May 2005 23:52 UTC

shylent: I've received your presets..
Nudge: would you still like to have them?

31st May 2005 21:52 UTC

could we maybe extend the deadline by 8 hours or so please?

EDIT: PAK-9 will be back in a couple of days and would like to submit a preset. Would that be okay also?

31st May 2005 21:54 UTC

Sure. You can have until about 20:00 your local time.
Mail me if you need more.

This also goes for everyone else. (20:00 GMT)

31st May 2005 23:26 UTC

i'm not sure when pak will send his preset. he said the next couple of days.

i just need a bit extra time to modify intro and finish my own preset. sorry for the delays.

1st June 2005 14:13 UTC

that's all right imo.
(As long as it's going to be finished somewhen during the next days... :) )

What about the problems that occured with the remixes/emails actually? Are those problems removed? Has every participant recieved/sent their stuff in?

1st June 2005 15:23 UTC

Yea thats what I am wonderin. Here's the situation - WotL experiences some problems with attachments and people never say anything and then all of a sudden on 28th Mr Nudge realizes that he doesnt have any presets to remix. I am wondering if this is even gonna happen. Sorry for being pessimistic and dont take offense, anyone.

1st June 2005 17:05 UTC

well, but wotl couldn't recognize it until tug asked whether his mail was delivered or not. So, of course this was 'all of a sudden'. True but sad. :frown:

Nevertheless, let's keep at least a bit optimism! This pack will be released! :p

1st June 2005 19:15 UTC

This is the first time I encounter difficulties with my email. (gmail in browser)

I emailed MrNudge together with everyone else and noone else has replied to me they didn't receive the email at all. When MrNudge started about it in the forums, it was just a few days before the deadline.
Tuggummi's first post didn't have an attachment when I got it, but did when he sent it away.
I replied, and he replied back but didn't say he had re-attached it. Again, it was not attached when I got it, so I didn't know he thought I had it.
We PM'ed each other about it and Tuggummi placed it somewhere on the web and gave the URL to me. I ve got his presets now.

I don't really like it, but it seems like I'm forced to accept some delay again.. Hurry up, guys.

1st June 2005 20:39 UTC

whose work is still missing actually? is there anyone who didn't sent anything back, but who got presets to remixes from you?

1st June 2005 21:25 UTC

MrNudge never received his presets to remix; I didn't know about that until a few days before the deadline.

I've got the remixes back from:

^..^
Denkensiefursich
Mysterious W
Shylent
Tuggummi

Ishan emailed me that he's unable to send me the mixes.
PAK-9 and Jheriko claim they need more time.

1st June 2005 21:30 UTC

Here's a pice of advice, maybe for WFC3 (but for god's sake let's at least have a 3 month break before even starting a thread on that). Don't take on jobs you can't carry out. These few months are my big dirty exams months, and I knew I wasn't gonna have a lot of free time. So I just volunteered to do mixes, and I got it done.

1st June 2005 21:40 UTC

i just browsed back to the begining of this thread to see who participated in the first part. And now i'm wondering what's about ASD5A? Didn't he want to remix something too?

1st June 2005 22:33 UTC

Too late now anyway.

WFC3 will not begin right after WFC2. I already had that in mind.. (If there will even be a #3)
Let's at least wait until after the hollidays [sp?]

1st June 2005 22:39 UTC

Yeah, good idea!
Perhaps i'll be able to round off some presets and complie them to my first pack during summer (what i've actually been planning to do for a few months now)

1st June 2005 23:13 UTC

maybe for wfc3 we have a huge deadline?

so ishan is not in the pack and i can scratch his name from intro?

1st June 2005 23:15 UTC

when i got it right he just wasn't able to submit any remixes. So i guess his presets will be in!

btw: what about the size of the intro? were you able to reduce it a bit? ;)

2nd June 2005 01:30 UTC

"PAK-9 and Jheriko claim they need more time."

You say it as if you dont believe me... I can guarentee that I really do need more time :P But not too long dont worry

Sorry if I was unclear.. I believe you :)

Ishan's originals are still in, he just didn't remix.

2nd June 2005 09:44 UTC

well the reason for me not haven´t submitted remixes is
that i have massive probs remixing.
well the wfc2 is released when pak-9 is finished.
so my remix goes out to wotl during the next hours.

2nd June 2005 10:27 UTC

remix is send..

2nd June 2005 12:40 UTC

Everyone gets a little extra time for polish and finishing :)

I'm going to add self shadowing to my preset now I think... see you in 20 hours :P

2nd June 2005 13:31 UTC

well, i'll lean back and relax instead :p
already submitted my work and i don't think that i could do another remix in 20 hours...

2nd June 2005 20:16 UTC

I sent my preset to wotl's gmail account

2nd June 2005 21:35 UTC

Oh! Now there's a great idea!

It's not like we've been talking the last 2 pages about how Wotl's gmail is b0rked and he doesn't actually get the attachments...

2nd June 2005 21:59 UTC

well, at least today it worked fine. i also sent him an attachment (updated remix) this afternoon and he didn't have any problems recieving it!
So, seems as if everything is alright again...

2nd June 2005 22:05 UTC

It worked fine yesterday, as well... or so he says. :)

2nd June 2005 23:30 UTC

..and no problems today either

3rd June 2005 05:05 UTC

Well now that (supposedly) all of the presets and remixes are in, when might we expect to see the release? Anticipation is the worst. ;)

3rd June 2005 10:42 UTC

well usually anticipation is the best, but right now im also dying to see our finished work! :D

3rd June 2005 11:24 UTC

nah, i still have to finish a preset (if not done by end of today i'l mke a compromise out of my prototype) :P

the intro is done and sent to wotl tho.

3rd June 2005 11:30 UTC

Quite selective working times with gmail eeh? :igor:

Anyway, i want to see the finished product too so...
Gimme all you got!
Gimme all you got!

3rd June 2005 11:42 UTC

btw if any names missing from intro wotl. tell me now rather than later plz :)

3rd June 2005 22:38 UTC

hope the rest of the pack can keep pace with the intro ;)
will be hard though...

4th June 2005 06:48 UTC

after four pages this *thing* isn't out yet!?

4th June 2005 09:35 UTC

Obviously not. But it'll be be released in the next days, so you don't have to wait that much longer (hopefully). :)

4th June 2005 16:50 UTC

...it'll be be released in the next days...
It had better be, or else you'll all be sorry! I paid damn good money for this pack! :p

4th June 2005 17:05 UTC

hmm, pak has to pay his bills in the internet cafe, denksiefursich pays for this pack...
seems as if wotl knows how to make money ;)

4th June 2005 23:06 UTC

And I didn't even ask for it..

All I'm waiting for is Jheriko's preset he is planning to do next to his (awesome) intro..

Oh, Jheriko: after reading back this thread, kookee also submitted a preset + his own remix.
Could you add his name too in the intro?
Sorry I didn't notice it earlier either.

4th June 2005 23:12 UTC

i also hate it when im whining, but...

Please Jheriko, hurry up! I nearly can't wait any longer!!

;)

4th June 2005 23:17 UTC

^..^, the more you talk to him, the longer it takes before the preset's finished ;)

4th June 2005 23:26 UTC

yeah yeah.. i'll shut up right now :(

5th June 2005 00:45 UTC

i've been out with a head ache today will add name and finish preset tonight. i've just woken up... so prolly get it done by tomorrow morning :)

sorry for the delays. btw, my preset is what paks is a 'remix' of kinda

5th June 2005 09:21 UTC

That's not so good... hope the headache is gone today!
Just take the time then, health is more important than this pack anyway!

NO!
You must sacrifice everything for AVS! Your health, your social life, a 15 year old virgin, 3 bunnies and a clock.

With that lame loser attidute you're never going to be a great AVSer :p

:D

5th June 2005 16:02 UTC

You're so sick tug... :D

6th June 2005 15:15 UTC

i've sent the preset and new intro to wotl

http://www.geocities.com/jherikoisdead/jher_wfc.zip

6th June 2005 19:26 UTC

:D I'm as giddy as a 13 year old school girl.*

The intro is sweet as hell. Glad to see that you managed to reduce the size a bit.

And of course, Starfighter Redux. :jawdrop:  That's better than I had expected. Sure, it's slow, but damn... that is awesome!

*Tug, back off. Don't even think it!

6th June 2005 20:45 UTC

I didn't say anything!

...

So WotL will be compiling the pack eeh? Are PAK's presets in?

6th June 2005 20:47 UTC

lol yeah tug, please leave those conversations where they belong, in the RB! ;)

anyway, that starfighter preset is so damn amazing! double:up: and triple:eek:!

can hardly wait for the rest! :)

6th June 2005 20:53 UTC

Damn stop talking how awesome it is, im saving myself for the pack :(

6th June 2005 20:56 UTC

but it is awesome!
well, luckily i've got plenty more words of praise up my sleeve! ;)

7th June 2005 00:01 UTC

All's done for now.. But how will I add the .gvm files to the pack? Normally, I'd pimpbot it all since I've never touched NSIS in my life, but Pimpbot doesn't support .GVM files (yet?).

Are there NSIS geeks around?
Yathosho, will there be an update for .gvm files?

other ideas?

I'd try creating it with another install program otherwise, but it's 1 AM here.. I really don't have the energy to go on anymore for it today.

I'll be awaiting replies until tomorrow evening (gmt+1) then I'll search around for other tools

edit: i will not post it here; the pack is 16.1MB :D

7th June 2005 00:10 UTC

You could just let jheriko do the installer (if he has the time)
I think i have a simple NSIS script (from my AVSing days) still too which i could use, but the situation ain't that desperate yet ;)

7th June 2005 00:17 UTC

I've sent an email with the request to J

7th June 2005 00:56 UTC

meh

i'll 'patch up' the wfc1 installer script

7th June 2005 11:21 UTC

hehe ever heard of that legend program, 40-50kb full 3D graphics & 3D sound =D i wonder how they did it :p

7th June 2005 13:13 UTC

Question: Will people even download a 16Mb pack?
Well, I, for myself, will, since im a participant. Have you thought about it?

7th June 2005 13:25 UTC

Your forgetting that nsis has support for ZLib, BZip2 and LZMA compression, and the largeness of the files is due to the .gvms (nice compressable text) so the final installer will likely be much smaller.

7th June 2005 16:52 UTC

let's hope so!
But i guess most people really don't care that much about the size. If it's worthy to be downloaded, they will download it cause it's cool.

7th June 2005 17:13 UTC

The total size of Bitmapped II is 4,142 MB, compressed with NSIS i think the total size shrinked to about 1MB.

So if we do the math based on this, the total size of WFC2 could be about 4MB~ which really isn't that much with nowadays internet connections :igor:

7th June 2005 19:02 UTC

I am just an innocent bystander, and I would get this pack even if it were a 20 minute download. As ^..^ says, just 'cause it's cool. I can't wait to see the stuff you guys come up with next! I have even restrained myself from dl-ing J's Intro, or any other "raw" presets in this thread because I want to be surprised by the whole pack.:D

7th June 2005 19:23 UTC

Final filesize: 1.001.624 bytes (1.003.520 bytes on disk)

You can >>> check <<< it if you want.. ;)

that's about 3 to 5 minutes on 56k

7th June 2005 20:13 UTC

Good work everybody

7th June 2005 20:28 UTC

yay it's out -- J E T W A S H !

7th June 2005 20:54 UTC

YAY!

Now we need UnConeD to lock this up so it doesnt get like the WFC1 thread :)

EDIT: WotL size on disk only has meaning on your machine. I think it means the file + all its 'records' in the file allocation table

7th June 2005 21:09 UTC

Yeah, but not before i had a chance to congratulate you all! ;) (got no da account and therefore have to post here...) So:

W O W!

Congrats to everybody! That pack is awesome! And please don't let this idea die! (though we really should wait a bit longer before planning another one ;))

7th June 2005 21:32 UTC

You didn't include my bitmap tug_texer12 :(

Let me add that cooking in my pot looks really FUGLY with the default bitmap.

Here it is one more time.

oh man it looks like a decent preset with the bitmap, sux0rz.

7th June 2005 22:43 UTC

yeah, thanks for not sending that bmp wotl

i'll post a link when its done recompiling the installer... nsis is sloooooow for big files

EDIT: http://www.geocities.com/jherikoisdead/WFC2.zip

7th June 2005 22:48 UTC

sorry. That's all I can say :(

/edit: updated description on dA for the file

7th June 2005 23:03 UTC

dont take it too seriously. that sad face looks really sad :(

7th June 2005 23:07 UTC

you have another sad face then? :)

[offtopic alert]

any other bugs?

Im still more beautiful than you.

edit: Okay let's add some on-topic discussion.
Next time i think there should be atleast some kind of quality control applied, if this thing gets too popular there will be disco-party-w00t-acid-trip presets submited like there's no tomorrow and are you going to include all of them? :igor:

8th June 2005 20:06 UTC

Hmm yea. I shouldve thought twice before submitting some presets I liked MYSELF, so I expected people to like them as well. That will be a good lesson for me. I still dont get how those colors are "horrible" tho :/ But, you know, thats just me.

i'm working on the rest :P

www.farb-rausch.de

how they did it? by simply generating everything procedurally:
textures, music, voices, program code

9th June 2005 06:05 UTC

wow, that's a amazing, avs should incorporate some of this (i think so i clocked it at 270+ fps) but it uses dx9 :(

9th June 2005 10:45 UTC

werkzeug is a tool made for professionals... i think even some of us code monkeys would have problems using it

10th June 2005 13:40 UTC

Consider WFC2 published :D.

I'll be away until May 4th so the deadline will be extended to that day. So you still have a few days to finish up anything you might have been working on.

Anyway, you could make my name in 3D text, but I think it's a tad bit too long. ;)

/edit
The intro you've made is nice too. I probably should have looked at it before posting anything.
