Does anyone know of a list anywhere of what type of avi codecs are compatable with AVS?
Also, can I render stills other than .bmp file formats?
Thanks people.

I don't know about AVI support in AVS, but if there is any it probably is very limited and sucks.
You can render other pictures in AVS using an ape written by UnConeD called Picture II, it's on his website. I'm not sure about what it's status is, but I know it can render JPEG pictures.

I've have found that DivX works a treat.
I've tried a few different codecs, and this is the best so far.
good luck.

Bear in mind that even if you can use compression codecs the people *watching* your AVS will need to have them too.

it doesn't matter, any acm codec will work in avs. but as pak-9 pointed out already, the end-user will also need the codec. divx is a very bad choice, as it requires -like avs- a lot cpu to decode. you should choose a codec depending on the source-material (similiar to GIF vs JPEG) and a good cpu/size ratio. personally i made good experiences with cinepak, which comes with windows by default.. but i recommend reading yourself into it or ask around on sites like vjforums.com
