avsgrabber: crash!
I've updated my AVS to v2.7.9.2 as someone posted it here in another thread, but now when I load avsgrabber1.2 it causes winamp to crash everytime. I've tried using the alpha version of avsgrabber2.0 but it does exactly the same.
Which versions of AVS work with avsgrabber (and where can I download them? - I've updated to winamp 5 but I was stuck with AVS 2.5 till I found the dll file posted in this forum)

download winamp 5.01 and install the avs from there and try.
And try another codec

hey thanks for the tip, but the latest winamp only comes with tiny fullscreen plug-in, no sign of AVS. And winamp would crash before I could even choose a codec using avsgrabber.....

You need to install Winamp full, as AVS isn't packaged in with the lite version.

so is the latest AVS only available to people to buy the pro version of winamp?

No, winamp pro is something else than winamp full. Pro just adds some extra options for cd burning/ripping as far as I know.

I know avsgrabber is not supported, but I've found that v1.1, 1.2 and 2.0 all cause winamp (5.01) and AVS 2.81b to crash as soon as I open it... I'm using XP pro if that's any help

avsgrabber should be able to work with WA5. I don't know why it's crashing on you - of course AVS is pretty crash prone for a lot of unexplainable reasons, so it may just be your computer and AVS not working well together. I can't really say anything specific - maybe UCD knows what's happening(since it is his APE).
