PimpBot 1.2
after only two minor updates, a new major release is here
the new features:
* font support
* additional default script
* updated APEs
* optional fullscreen setup
* epilepsy warning (not quite an easter egg, see the docs)
the new pimpbot setup optionally downloads and installs NSIS 2.0 beta 4, which was released a couple of hours ago. the new versopm hasn't been tested as much as last time, so if you experience any trouble let me know!

font support, yes!

i didn't turn out as i wanted (sections for each font), but i think it's works well enough like this. a font should not be installed, when it's there already. however, i got enough of this for a while.

*GOOD*.
BTW, I tested PimpBot on both XP-russian and XP-english, some menus do no work on russian version. anyway, nice new features, waiting for custom apes...

I'm sure going to use this for the release of my new pack, now all I have to do is wait for wa5 to come out. :)

a minor update is available now
new pimpbot has switched from bzip2 to lzma compression. the reason why i announce this change, one needs the latest cvs of nsis. therefor the installer has now the option to install nsis 2.0 beta 4 and update it to cvs. if you installed beta 4 already, you just need to run the update.

Installed NSIS2beta4 and then Pimpbot but I can't make the thing work. Always ends with "Creation failed" error. Just tried to pack a single AVS-directory with all the options set to default.

i think i spot the problem.
the latest PimpBot scripts use LZMA as compressor (not bzip2 as before), which is only supported by the latest NSIS version.
you most likely havn't upgraded your NSIS from
CVS. to do so, run
NSIS\Bin\NSISUpdate.exe and upgrade your NSIS (second or third option, doesn't make much difference).

PimpBot 1.2.4
the new pimpbot is here
this is probably the last update before 1.3.0, bringing a couple of minor changes.
* added a winamp 5 only script
* added error output
* modified controls
* updated documentation
the setup also got an extra dialogue which explicitly warns the user to upgrade his NSIS installation from CVS.
pimpbot 1.3.0 will have multi-language dialogs, an updated font.dll (current version is buggy under windows 95) and its setup will install the next beta (or final version) of NSIS (to avoid CVS upgrades).

Since AVS 2.8 can handle sub folders, can there be an option to implement this?
Yathosho
8th December 2003 09:57 UTC
it already is implemented

Sorry, I worded that poorly. What I meant was that I want to extract files of the pack to a subfolder.
For example, what would I do if I wanted to extract avs files to plugins/avs/NemoOrange/pack/ instead of plugins/avs/pack ?

no misunderstandings here, it's implemented! :)

PimpBot 1.2.5
the latest pimpbot is here
there was no updates planned before pimpbot 1.3 comes out, but since some people here had problems with cvs installation i changed my mind.
what's new:
* comes with NSIS 2.0 RC1
* updated font installation
* added dialogue for better subdir installation
* updated documentation
pimpbot 1.3 should be out in early january. it comes with a couple of new features, including multiple installer languages.

I tried pimpbot 1.2.5 and at the end of the setup it said: "Creation Failed."

yath: for the next pimpbot, can you have the program display what version of the APEs are bundled, like in the program, or in a txt file or something?

The error log said:
Error: bitmap isn't 96x16 in size
Error in macro MUI_INTERFACE on macroline 64
Error in macro MUI_PAGE_INIT on macroline 3
Error in macro MUI_PAGE_COMPONENTS on macroline 5
Error in script "C:\DOCUME~1\STINKW~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\yipb.tmp\default.nsi" on line 34 -- aborting creation process
yep I installed NSIS 2 also. so do I have to resize my bitmap file or something?

yes, the checkbox image has to be 96x16 (256 colors)
you can find a selection in NSIS\Contrib\Graphics\Checks

:confused:
I thought it was talking about the bitmap that was being used in one of my presets, not the checkboxes.....man am I confused....
edit: Okay I think I get it now, but where do you add the bitmaps that are used in the presets? I know it's on the first page, but when you hit the "..." button, it only lets you select the folders instead of the bitmap or AVI files.....

@pixelcraft
had too much to drink for new year, didn't ya?
You select the folder where your bitmaps/avis are (instead of selecting maaany files separately) and than tell pimpbot what to look for: bitmaps or avis or both (use checkboxes) hehe :p
Did I say that right, Jan? ;)
