Second Reality
Today is the beginning of Assembly '03, one of the biggest demo-scene parties around... I bumped into this video of Second Reality, which was relased at Assemby '93. Take a look at what a 486 could do ;). Remember, this is all 8-bit 256-color rendering...

(you could try the original version, but it doesn't run on modern pc's anymore)

great stuff!

Im guessing that 3d city scene would be impossible to do in AVS, huh?

Sweet!!! Now I won't have to build a DOS machine to watch it.

:( Guess I will. It just isn't the same with the compression artifacts and the slower framerate on the busy parts. Still nifty though.

Time to dust off the old SB AWE 32 PNP

Damn, those are sweet.

Hey! I know that face :) Tug made that as a preset in his Bitmapped II pack. And that last city scene looks a lot like Final Reality, a benchmark utility. Same plane, same music, nicer city, heavier engine.

21.9 MB?!!? That sucks for me.

All I have is a putsy little 56K dialup modem (aka - p.o.s)

I have final reality, it is EXACTLY the same scene, with different textures, and the end says FINAL REALITY. Future Crew -> Remedy & Futuremark -> max payne & madonion benchmarks

Most of the FC guys went to work for Remedy (that's probably why I like Max Payne so much (never met an FC demo I didn't like (except to possibility of Yo!, a demo for the C64 :) ))). I believe UC used the pic first in his tribute to Second Reality.

Anyway, if amyone wants, here's the demo. (damn, file is too big here are links)

Mad, I'm gonna try that out on an emulator :D

BTW, you gotta remove "ftp://ftp.scenesp.org/pub/" from those links to work.
