SyncBot BETA
stupid tool i came up with. synchronizes the avs-directories of winamp 2 and 3. still labeled beta, i'd appreciate comments.

TODO:
* fix bugs i dont know yet
* sync on winamp-launch (virtually done but not yet enabled)

what do you mean by "synchronizes the avs-directories of winamp 2 and 3" ? Its like you open winamp 2 and you can play presets from the winamp 3 avs directory ?

Phaze: I think it's supposed to help people who want their AVS directories synchronized.

Killahbite: If you want to delete presets, do you have to delete from both directories?

but who uses both winamp3 and winamp 2.x anyhow?

i'm not about to download wa3 to see if this works or not, but if you didn't do it already you should compare files that are in both directories with the same name to see if they're identical, and rename them if they aren't - and with bitmaps/avis/svps, edit the avs file using them to access the renamed file...bleh...

remote backup solution for avs :P
i changed the entire concept and uploaded a BETA of SyncBot 2.

the tool now archives your avs-files and uploads them to a specified ftp-server. since this is just the very first release, you only get the basic features. on the todo-list are file-filters, ftp-directories and maybe the option to remember the login data (this is hairy, since right now i can only save the password as plain text!).

please note that the created zip files use 7-zip compression!

edit: i just figured it already supports remote directories, make sure you use a trailing slash

Ideas for further developement:

-Add a activeace library to create ace packs
-Snycbot could be a general file backup prog to backup whatever (files, dir's, placeholders) on ftp or other drive (burn cd?) on a regular basis with update checking, database and ... and

i dont see a reason to support any proprietary compression algorithm. syncbot is the publication of a software i made for my very own need. after completing the announced features the software will be discontinued.
