using AVI files
Does anyone knows the right way to play AVI files with AVS ?
When I use Render/AVI, the movie is displayed the first time I run AVS but I have a black screen when the preset is re-loaded (in random preset mode, pre-init enabled). I use small movies (less than 1MB) and try different codecs (Indeo and Mpeg4), I still have the same problem.
I also try to use the Movie Loader APE from http://www.forwind.net/pixelcorps/ but it often crashed my PC!
Thanks.

goto->settings->preset/hotkeys and disable random preset mode, i think that's the problem if you use fullscreen

Well, but I'd like to be in random mode in order to switch between different visualizations ! (and I have the same problem when I re-load manually the presets).

Try out the pixelplayer ape. This one is more advanced and should fit your needs. Search for it within the APE list thread.

If you add the Render/AVI to a ready preset, you have to save the preset after it if you want to reload it with the AVI again. It doesn't add the Render/AVI effect to every preset you view, because every preset is a list of predefined effects and Render/AVI is a effect.

Tugg, i think you got it wrong. Its the "when i reload the same AVI file, it won't be shown until i reload again" bug ;)

Create a preset with a AVI and save it. Then load it again. The avi wont work than until you load it a third time.
This seems to be a bug within the avi renderer, it can't load a avi file that has previously been loaded.

Hey, shape up Tug and don't give up so fast.
As i said, i think the Pixelplayer should work fine. And besides it has awesome control options.
