females in avs
Since I am a female AVS artist, and I haven't noticed much females in AVS, I was wondering are there more, or I am alone? This seemed like the right place to ask. ;)

2nd May 2003 00:18 UTC

nope

wait...

take that back

there are avs artists, but no AVS forum regulars, and no good ones I know of.

2nd May 2003 00:20 UTC

You're the first female AVS artist i've seen in a while. I can't remember any actually. And no, you're not alone, because making avs has nothing to do with your gender ;)

2nd May 2003 01:56 UTC

we think daftcunt's female, but we're not sure.

2nd May 2003 05:04 UTC

Girl or boy, I suggest you just do like everyone else: make presets, post'em here for review if you want, and do the same for others. Don't be afraid to criticize, just don't crack down mindlessly ;).

If you're new to AVS, try downloading some APEs. There is a link to a list thread in the Frequently Asked Questions (main forum). Start at the end and work your way backwards through the list, that way you get the most recent versions.
APEs allow you to do more effects with AVS (I've written a couple myself). Some are complicated, others are pretty easy, but they're all useful. And more toys to play with is always a good thing...
(You'll also need an APE to view a preset that uses it, so it's a good idea to download them anyway).

2nd May 2003 10:27 UTC

there's a very new APE here... ;)

2nd May 2003 11:22 UTC

Daftcunt is a female avs artist, Atero is just confused, because she "overbithced" Atero :p (in fact i think Atero is a bit jealous ;))

Anyway, female, male, what difference does it make? I know the chatting around here can be a little "guyish" with all the "The Bra" threads and such, but that shouldn't stop the grow of new artists, female or male :)

Besides im a little excited that there is female AVS-Artists, since now i can hit a girl with my AVS skills :D :blah: :D :blah:

2nd May 2003 12:50 UTC

I always wondered wheter girls are intereted in avsing or not ;)

2nd May 2003 14:13 UTC

chicks do avs to impress the hot guys at nullsoft ;)

2nd May 2003 14:48 UTC

Stardust_zg...
would that make you a david bowie fan or am i just being over imaginative..

2nd May 2003 15:26 UTC

could also be a woody allen fan :D

3rd May 2003 11:20 UTC

ahh well, now there's my sister who is a n00b artist, always playing around with tentacles APE :)

3rd May 2003 12:02 UTC

I know it doesn't make any difference, I was just curious :) And I wanted to shut my sister's mouth. She always says that avsing is too "guyish", and that she can't understand why I'm doing that.

Unconed, thanks for your advices. I'm not too new to AVS, I just haven't posted here.

And no, I'm not neither David Bowie, nor Woody Allen fan, I just liked the sound of the word "stardust" (and ZG is "Zagreb" for short, town where I live).

3rd May 2003 13:39 UTC

Well, whatever. Welcome to the forums. Now lets see some AVS outa you. :)

4th May 2003 05:07 UTC

well, if you read it as "adult verifica....nevermind.

4th May 2003 05:34 UTC

Zxe (for now) is the most known female AVS artist...

I don't really care about anyone's gender as long as I don't get to meet them in real life...

So another newcomer, this time not a bitchy one... uncommon, but definately welcomed :)

4th May 2003 20:08 UTC

Im the BRA man ! o_O
Starduts - come to #finnish-flash around 7-8 GMT.Great chat,relaxing. ?

4th May 2003 23:24 UTC

5th May 2003 02:16 UTC

5th May 2003 07:03 UTC

Zxe isn't female! :p

5th May 2003 09:48 UTC

There was a time when I didn't want to be a female, but I am... :) And now I wouldn't want to change my gender.

5th May 2003 10:21 UTC

:igor: how that? [i know, goes GD, bt already here :p ]

5th May 2003 10:40 UTC

why is that female titles attract people a lot around here, I maen this thread went up quite fast and so did "THE Bra" :) :D

5th May 2003 10:51 UTC

Because you're all horned up guys who can't find a girl that will come within a 50 foot radius of you :p

5th May 2003 10:59 UTC

No, really not. But its nice to see that there are at least some girls outa there that share your interests. So hope's up we can find one ;)

5th May 2003 12:42 UTC

can't find a girl that will come within a 50 foot radius of you :p
Maybe i should change my deoderant then? :igor: :p

5th May 2003 18:18 UTC

5th May 2003 20:45 UTC

5th May 2003 21:32 UTC

Oh sorry stardust i forgot about you ! Excuse me :)

5th May 2003 23:22 UTC

NP, Phaze :)

Btw, #finnish-flash is an IRC channel, right? I don't use IRC much, on which server I can find it?

5th May 2003 23:28 UTC

Download mirc from mirc.com then type this /server de.quakenet.org (Germany is close to Croatia...kinda).Then join #finnish-flash.Have fun :) Oh and IM A MAJOR DUDE! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

6th May 2003 08:17 UTC

My GF comes closer than 50 feet. :p

6th May 2003 08:22 UTC

How close exactly??? :p

6th May 2003 11:01 UTC

I think there was or there is a poll in GD about who`s a virgin and who`s not.Go there.

6th May 2003 11:11 UTC

Remember the "Pishiru III- Alpha power" pack? that was made by some girl from argentina , i cant really remember the name but she mentioned it in her presets.
Welcome Stardust_zg to forums.
(and guys please stop the "virgin" talk OK?)

6th May 2003 11:15 UTC

I thought pishiru just was gay, since "his" deviant page showed that "he" was a "he" :igor:

But i don't know... might be so that he is a she and she has a boyfriend... i don't know...

6th May 2003 11:22 UTC

And besides, it doesnt matter in any way, unless there's gonna be a "girls only" pack out [hint] ;)

6th May 2003 11:23 UTC

i;m totally confused:igor:

17th May 2003 07:51 UTC

true...true
So now we have girls, boys, gay... We only need some lesbians to get a full picture :D

17th May 2003 09:00 UTC

way ta flog that dead horse there jay

18th May 2003 16:21 UTC

na-ha, dude, i ain't shooting no dead horses, besides, Pishiru was a cool dude, i chatted with him a lot back in the days before the alpha power. tho his boyfriend talk was a bit odd... maybe his english was bad. Still i want... NO!! I DEMAND to see some lesbians around!:o :D

18th May 2003 16:32 UTC

You revived a dead thread. And Why do you just HAVE to see lesbians? Another person's sexual orientation does not matter in one bit to any one of us, becuae we are all many miles apart.

18th May 2003 19:01 UTC

Let it dieee....Dont turn this thread into a new i love gays/i hate gays/i love lesbians/i hate lesbians...LET IT BURRRN! Jay,enter #finnish-flash so we can talk aboot some things ;)

18th May 2003 21:26 UTC

12th October 2003 23:21 UTC

/me hides from Atero :p

13th October 2003 04:02 UTC

Atero and Jay: stop with the horse jokes... it hurts...:D  :D

14th October 2003 06:29 UTC

what'd i say about horses?

o yea and lesbians pwn

14th October 2003 06:45 UTC

Maybe people are thinking forward with the "more females" requests... going to be handy when someone invents the "Fuck Drive" :igor:

16th October 2003 11:01 UTC

The reason that more women dont make avs' is that women on the whole dont like computers and women on the whole dont like maths, 2 things that are pretty key to AVS.

I'd imagine presets more in the NemoOrange vein from da ladiieees.

16th October 2003 22:50 UTC

That's not exactly true, I know equal amounts of both genders who like both AVS and maths. It's the computers aspect that needs working on.

17th October 2003 00:16 UTC

I recently showed a female friend of mine AVS, and she immediately started asking what vars she could use in the code ;).

I think your stereotypes need adjusting, though of course in my univ's department, the few females there are geeks.

17th October 2003 03:08 UTC

Hey, I like to see chicks use AVS (and Winamp as well, but AVS moreso, since it requires so much more intelligence :)

-J

(edit)
Oh, and my girlfriend doesn't give a shit about avs. sad. :( But hey, maybe that's a good thing... diversity, eh.

18th October 2003 07:09 UTC

Justin replied to another post! This means that he comes here in between.

18th October 2003 11:28 UTC

It's not really a stereotype to say women on the whole dont like maths and computers, females are neurologically proven to have worse maths and logic skills than men, not to mention the clear evidence in statistics for men and women taking technical and maths qualifications and those in relevant jobs.

22nd October 2003 11:30 UTC

PAK-9, maybe you ARE right... :)
I don't really like math... and my favorite avs-er is Nemoorange.
But I like computers, and avs :P

This year my group is 70% female. I'm doing a maths degree.. really weird.

1st November 2003 22:50 UTC

pak-9 is just dealing with the cliché, i recently read a nice study about women and math.. it appears to be the opposite, but the reality is still influenced by the suppression of women as in the past.

2nd November 2003 01:39 UTC

SMACK DOWN brought to you by yathosho...!

2nd November 2003 06:16 UTC

i have met a few female maths geeks.

In Dutch schools have you 4 math levels: A1, A1.2, B1 and B1.2. I do the highest one, B1.2. In my class there are 29 people and only 3 females: about 10% :(

2nd November 2003 11:57 UTC

When I still went to high school I did B1.2 as well. only one female in it, and she didn't look that good :p. Now I'm studying for a computer science degree, and there's only 30-40 females in the entire building on a busy day, teachers and secretary included.

2nd November 2003 16:19 UTC

I study administrative law and there are 10-20 men in the building, staff included. The last time I've learned math was when I went in high school, 4 years ago. Plus, I've never really liked it but I love AVS.

3rd November 2003 02:06 UTC

I find that females are just as good at anything if not better than me. In fact, most of the girls I know seem to raught me at everything intelligence related. Plus, girls have the common sense us guys don't.
A Girl wouldnt light the school's dumpsters on fire now would she? ( not my proudest moment. )
;)

3rd November 2003 14:26 UTC

Dragon is right here tho sometimes girls can be as annoying as anything.

3rd November 2003 16:27 UTC

I guess they see it the other way around ;). Though I'm not always sure about their clear vision on the world. Maybe the good word is "slightly blurred" for every now and then. Hell who cares btw, I know I love girls, and that I'll never rate them below guys.

4th November 2003 01:52 UTC

You know, scientific studies conclude that the male sex will be extinct in a couple tens/hundreds/thousands of thousand years, apparently due to the fact that the Y chromosome is damn... weird.
As for my classes, girls make up from 5/7 down to around 1/3 of the students...

4th November 2003 05:41 UTC

girls....there seems to be none intrested in me tho.:hang: i dont even have a girlfriend so i dont know much about them.

4th November 2003 11:54 UTC

Don't worry, the're unavoidable. Sooner or later you'll get hooked as well :).

5th November 2003 02:34 UTC

Reminds me, for some reason,
I made the title preset for Driving Force when I was still going out with my last g/f.
I released it after we broke up. But I forgot to remove her name from the thanks section.
Thanks for nothing more like :(
Oh well... thats life :)

5th November 2003 08:56 UTC

lol, if anyone new sees this thread for the first time he'll wonder how'd this thread ended up in the AVS forums.

6th November 2003 06:03 UTC

"Hey girl, wanna go to my place and watch some avs? ;)"

[edit]Sounds like a rather bad pick-up-line to me...[/edit]

[edit2]pick-up-line or how the hell it is typed correctly [/edit2]

6th November 2003 09:10 UTC

you typed it twice the same way, Tugg ;). Though you don't neccesarily need to involve avs when asking a girl for a date ;). Unless that's truly what your planning to do.

6th November 2003 09:39 UTC

you typed it twice the same way, Tugg
Just proves the point ;) (that i don't know how it is typed)

7th November 2003 11:33 UTC

I think it's a pretty good way to type it. It containst everything it should contain. :). Or how about come-with-me-so-we-can-make-some-hot-love-line?
