Avs???
Hey hey,
I tried making something with the avs program in winamp 2. confused the hell out of me but i got used to it. Now i sortof know what to do. when i go to fullscreen it, it lags like there's no tomorrow. and i would like to konw if there is any programs for making them that you guys suggest or any tutorials on how to properly use the one in winamp. any news is good news.

Read the FAQ in teh AVS forums or do a search.

okay, if you want avs to run fast in fullscreen, i suggest you flame justin frankel in emails for a better tomorrow about updating avs.

well..
Look through the threads to find atero's "primer" or alternatively just go to atero.deviantart.com
Also, there is currently a very good thread called tips and tricks in the main avs board (one subdirectory up from this area)
Mainly though, you should learn the way we all learnt, get other peoples presets, pick them appart, experiment with all the compondents and generally have patience.

try out, try out, try out, tear other's presets apart, try out, try out, troy out, type noncence math lines in movements [(d=sin(d)*cos(r)-tan(x)+sqrt(y)/atan2(x,y) (I just typed something, don't ask me what it does, it's just noncence)], and so on, and so on....

that's what, most of the artists grew up experimenting, typind random equations and stuff.
just make sure what you need to modify...
