AVS Quality
I don't know if its just me or what but the AVS in Winamp2 had a better detail quality than the ones in Winamp3... is it my hardware? or is it just lower quality AVS.

Winamp 3 munches system memory

Turn off 'pixel doubling' in the avs display options.

no it doesn't

it only saps precious cpu time if your using a complex skin with tons of alpha blending.

if your using a small simple skin(without alpha). it should use about the same amount of cpu as winamp2. therefore avs should run at a similar speed.

AVS has the same code over both winamp2 and 3 apart from the changes from mfc and wasabi.

as unconed said its probably a quality setting

Why the hell avs then runs about 5-10fps slower even with the default wa3 skin, than with wa2? :igor:

It does run slower with wa3. I've noticed this no matter what skin I'm using. WA3 sucks my memory dry.

Thx Unconed... turning off pixel doubling helped and now the detail looks the same as in Winamp2...
it sure runs fewer fps but the detail quality looks fine.

and also...why are you using winamp3? winamp 2.9 afaik has the same capabilities but is much more stable and streamlined.
(also see if you can find avs 2.5 out there if you have 2.6, from what i've heard they didn't do anything good for avs in 2.6)

Not all of the same capabilities Atero, but most of the important ones.
