the only new thing i discovered (so far), the avs window is no longer skinned by my winamp 2.x skin

maybe its worked out some of the bugs like seeing the set render modes in the right place, stuff like that.

A few (VERY FEW) bugs worked out...
Better beat detection...
...Snapped windowsize, meaning no more fixing of slide-up-left empty DM problem and no more 300x300 res :( :( :( :( :(

Well, see the thing in positive light: they updated it ! not much but atleast they showed that some progress is happening. We should be thankful for that and stop whining about everything !

Totally right Blazer, though I was wondering if it also works with Winamp3?

Gee, looks like nullsoft have really listened to the wishlist
Raz

i woudlnt really critisise nullsoft when you're using their forums, getting their free product and spending countless hours using a piece of software that they made that you use for free. They've probably just started to update avs and are releasing as they go along.

And hey, AVS 2.6 crashes on my machine! Hooray for windows 98 support.

22nd March 2003 19:58 UTC
raz, i'd rather have avs3 and no forums than forums that don't do any good.
Raz
22nd March 2003 20:21 UTC
yes but my point was that nullsoft dont have a duty to make avs3 just because we want it.

it started to crash for no reason here too.I run WinXP.After some time of utilisation it just exits,no error no nothing!

I don't like 2.6.0 either- no skin support, and the stupid snapping window sizes
Zevensoft
23rd March 2003 06:02 UTC
Mine just loads the window and crashes.

the avs window is now skinned by the new gen.bmp which is also used to skin the media library

Anyone notice, That its 2.9 beta, That means they're probably still doing work onit, Even AVS.
Zevensoft
23rd March 2003 12:01 UTC
Even a BETA should at least START UP WITHOUT CRASHING COMPLETELY!

three completely new bmps: skinbits.zip
note: skinbits.zip is inofficial, the bmps might change until the final release of winamp 2.9

Something is wrong, the preset what had 6-7 FPS before has now 17-18 FPS, this is spooky, or is it just about me, i used winamp3 before

It won't full screen on my machine, where as the version that was included with 2.81 does perfectly.
WinXP SP1 w/ nVidia 43.00 drivers
No Matter what reso. I have it set to.. My curser disappears, like it has drawn the window, but the windowed version is displayed with my desktop.. :(

The beta-readme said it could crash in fullscreen. Ill stick to 2.51 until there is a final or better version

Not many differences, but at least they did something. Hopefully they will be working on fixing even more bugs.

I am using Windows 98SE and 2.9 crashes when I load AVS, not when it's fullscreen, just when it loads.

It still seems as much as a CPU hog as it used to be. I'll stick to Milkdrop, thank you.

The best idea really is to just keep the old 2.5.1 dll and use that instead. Better performance, more stable, more configurable (320x240 anyone?)

So another version of AVS with no cahnges at all (2.5 to 2.5.1). :) No variety but a glimmer of hope for a new version for MilkDrop. :)

It did that on 2.5 for me. I just naturally assumed it was because of my shoddy computer.

since i upgraded to beta2, fullscreen works occassionally only. nothing against the snapping window-size, but they should match the presets for fullscreen-resolutions and leave the option to disable snapping (maybe similiar as in photoshop, press ctrl-key while resizing). i tried editing the winamp.ini to get my desired resolution, but seems like avs 2.6 is pretty unimpressed of that. i guess i will downgrade..
