rename the FAQ
I think we should append "READ ME FIRST!" to the FAQ and stop getting newbie posts about changing AVS presets and stuff...
actually, I admit it. I look forward to newbie posts. Especially when Atero responds.

you dont really think that would change anything, do you?
mikm
21st February 2003 23:21 UTC
it might, newbies are probably more likely to read a READ ME FIRST! then a Frequently Asked Questions...I usually don't read FAQs with software.

everybody - even the regulars - hates me here, don't they?
Raz
22nd February 2003 05:29 UTC
not really, i cant be bothered hating anyone though. Its too much work. Anyway its funny when noobs come and ask how to make their own presets and when they get a load of irritated regulars and bitch about it you come along and destroy them. :D

Nah man. You're blunt, sometimes harsh, but you're right.

I think that you shouting at noobs is a good thing IN THE END, because otherwise tehy would jkust come back and ask mnore stupid questions...

Nah, Tug and fçk (Well, that's the name fsk used in HIS packs...) are just using the fact that this forums is rarely visited, so not too many people would realize that the forumers are turning into drunkards. Besides, their motto is perhaps : "Eat, Sleep, Drink, Watch the pretty colors"
For now, let the drunkards post (I guess...)

Yeah well I hate you(jk).
Back ontopic - renaming the faq won't stop the stupid posts at all. One out of one thousand people might look at it first.

imho a short answer with a link to the FAQ
should be enough to guide beginners to the
needed information
(keeping in mind that everyone of us
had to start somehow a few weeks/month/years ago)
anubis2003
23rd February 2003 16:15 UTC
Yes, and I bet that most of us regulars haven't asked questions that are in the FAQ. Any questions that I have asked I have first searched for in the forums and on google. Anyone else can do the same.
Raz
23rd February 2003 20:14 UTC
when i joined all i did was show my presets, ive asked about 3 questions in all. Thats because almost every question has been answered already. Am i the only noob that took notice of the search the forums notices plastered everywhere, anubis you dont count cause you already had much coding knowledge?
Jaak
23rd February 2003 20:32 UTC
I got one forum idea too.
To make one sticky where everybody could post their presets and everybody could comment them.
Well when think little then it ist SO great idea, but what do you think of it?
Bit offtopic but hell with this...
Raz
23rd February 2003 20:46 UTC
erm... we have an entire forum devoted to that dont we.
Jaak
23rd February 2003 20:54 UTC
well yea, but its weir posting hole topic just for one preset....
Or is this just about me????
Raz
23rd February 2003 20:57 UTC
so what, its better than a big unorganized thread where people are commenting and nobody know whos commenting on what and its all a big mess and the avs presets forum would be deleted and NO is what im trying to say :D
anubis2003
23rd February 2003 21:39 UTC
Having many threads for many presets is fine. It's just the pointless threads that are crap. And Raz, I have also asked questions several times(120-polyhedron for one). I just happened to search the forums for everything that I could find first, but still couldn't find my answer.
legohead
23rd February 2003 21:51 UTC
EASY FIXED.
a) rescript the php to point people with under 5 posts to a search page that has a new post tucked away in the corner somewhere.
b) rescript the php to point regulars to the Alcoholics anonymous website and dissallow comments like 'I love you man' 'No man I hate you man'...etc.
Raz
23rd February 2003 23:17 UTC
yeah anubis but i meant questions like 3d DMs etc etc, i dont think anyones made a 120 sided polyhedron or a truncated isocahedron out of scopes before now.
anubis2003
23rd February 2003 23:21 UTC
Jheriko's made similar. And I did have a question on 3-D translation with SSC's as well.
Tuggummi
24th February 2003 06:23 UTC
well... im glad no one is bitching me, because i don't have anything better to do than visit the forums while im "partying" :D
Anubis, you make what, 9 posts a day? And they are all "good" posts? Man, you must be really boring in real life :blah: :blah: :D :D
Raz
24th February 2003 06:51 UTC
anubis makes "30.12 posts per day", sweet merciful crap... jeeesus man. i thought my 17 posts per day was bad
EnDurA
24th February 2003 07:02 UTC
9 WTF? i can barling make 1 post a week
dirkdeftly
24th February 2003 08:28 UTC
yeah... you guys are über-postpumpers. mine'd be up in the clouds too if it weren't for the fact that i've "been" here only half the time since i regged.
Raz
24th February 2003 15:57 UTC
yeah but anubis makes worthwhile posts most of the time...
dirkdeftly
24th February 2003 19:57 UTC
except that - if i'm correct - not half of them are in the AVS forum. they simply can't be :p
anubis2003
24th February 2003 20:53 UTC
You're right. I am a GD junkie, but I still make about 10 ppd in the AVS forums. Plus I try to stick to intellectual threads in GD. You won't see me making any posts that say "I like swords" or anything.
[EDIT]Except for the "What do you do..." game thread.[/EDIT]
legohead
24th February 2003 22:19 UTC
30 posts! I don't even scratch my balls that many times a day!
Well aren't we lucky to have someone so dedicated!

Or is it just that I have nothing better to do.:(
legohead
24th February 2003 23:35 UTC
Dude - on average I spend 13 hours a day in front of a computer (work and play). Ive spent a hell of a lot more in the past. Just make sure your monitors running at at least 85hz to avoid eye strain. And change your underpants regularly...
anubis2003
24th February 2003 23:46 UTC
I spend about 10 hours a day in front of the computer. I do a lot of different things and normally keep Winamp.com Forums shrunk and just maximize it every few minutes.

And that right there is a good example of a post I would never make.
I think Atero's drunk right now.:p (and Atero, I know you puke at the sight of beer).
Nic01
25th February 2003 02:18 UTC
Atero's only 14, and I severely doubt that he'd drink beer anytime soon...
Oh, and just posting to make a point (ignore the lameness) :
We are the masters of topic changing! w00t!!! Oh joy.
Oh, and whoever here is depressed, raise your hand. *raises his hand*

Am I supposed to enjoy early teenage years?
anubis2003
27th February 2003 03:02 UTC
Yes. You should enjoy all of your years. If not, then you are doing something wrong. You should be able to look back and say that you have had a good time overall. Small things don't really matter, as long as you are happy overall. This is what I believe anyway.
legohead
27th February 2003 04:39 UTC
Oh yeah - the younger years. AND REMEMBER YOU TEENAGERS:
a) Fuck em all (even the ugly ones, they make the good ones taste better and will give ya something different to think about when your married)
b) Don't drink/smoke hard (I know its cool - until you end up my age and you've only got a hand full of brain cells left)
c) Don't give your teachers too much shit (one of ours died of brain hemerage and came back to haunt us)
d) Remember your mates (later on they'll be more interested in uni, work and their bitch girlfriend)
e) Always do the opposite to advice similar to b), c) and d) because, lets face it, its the best fun you'll ever have!
