Looking for some help re First VIS pack
On the Subject of AVS......

Just a thought ...I'm gonna be working on some visuals in 'Adobe' etc plus say 'Pinnacle Studio'...now what I wonder is can this stuff be plugged-in to winamp or is there a plug-in for it?

or will I have to write it totally new for winamp?

Just wondering as I'm gonna be working on my first vis pack while I'm downtime . Hopefully should be ready for spring/summer next year.

The VIS pack will be Free Of course.
Any ideas on them plug-in's or any info that I can get over the next day or so as come the weekend My connection goes down. I have to close down for at least 2mnth's because of costs.ie I have to divert funds into Upgrades and setting up my [hopefully] DSL server.
thanks guy's

You're making a picture and want to sticking it into AVS?

2nd January 2003 07:37 UTC

...Adobe and Pinnacle Studio have nothing to do with AVS, or plugins in general - nor can they be plugged into anything - nor do they have any reason to be plugged into anything, as the graphics processing would take too long. "etc." doesn't give us any hint as to what you're talking about after giving one example. If you were charge money for the vis, nobody in their right minds would download it as it would probably not be worth paying for; thus there is no reason to tell us it's going to be free. You're not making any reference whatsoever to anything related to AVS, aside from your seemingly pointless statement at the top.

But, more importantly, wtf are you talking about?

2nd January 2003 14:38 UTC

i dont understand why you have to be so rude. if you can't help, there's no real need to post anything.

2nd January 2003 15:04 UTC

to answer the original question: avs can import avi-movies and windows bitmaps (plus some more picture formats with APEs)

2nd January 2003 18:10 UTC

Yathoso, since when is asking someone to be coherent rude?

Since, If you take the time to read What is basically 'Coherant' you will find that I am asking if a 'Visual' made in either of the above studio's can work in Winamp.
I came here to ask As this is the part of the forums where I would expect to find knowledge on this subject not a slagging!
In a sense then some stuff can. Thankyou Killahbite.
The only reason I ask is I like working in'Pinnacle' and 'Adobe'
As I can't code properly ..[yet] it is easier for me to work in these formats till I can code properly.

Sig. disabled to show that this is one of my more serious posts

Smeggle, you're an idiot. This has NOTHING to do with AVS. Take ten seconds to look around the forums and you'll find - *gasp* - WINAMP 2 PLUGINS and WINAMP 3 SKINS/SCRIPTING. Gee, that sure was hard...

3rd January 2003 07:15 UTC

I'm afraid this is the wrong place to be asking that. Atero's blunt, and rude, but right (he grows on you). The AVS forum isn't the place to ask if winamp can do things, it's the place to ask if AVS can do things.

Killahbite got it right though.

3rd January 2003 07:53 UTC

i'm only bluntly rude to those who are obscenely obtuse.

he grows on you
...like mold on cheese...

1/Atero I am not an Idiot so do not call me one. and if you relate to some of my posts in GD then there is an itention in what I post there and that is trying to help that forum recover through Humour from the disasters of the other month.
2/ I did not realise that AVS was nothing to do with winamp [which all my knowledge of was it plays in winamp so an easy mistake to make] As I was thinking of creating visuals it seems I was mistaken to ask if these two 'VISUAL" formats can be incorporated into winamp.
The question I would Ask Is who would know in the shortest possible time. 'Easy answer', someone who does 'Visuals'. [Or is that idiotic to assume?].
So next time you feel a stupid predominance because of your Highly Superior Intellect in these matters [sic]please be aware that ,that kind of attitude could, can and probably does intimidate other's from even attempting to do or try to do visuals.
In other words Sir it is easy to be 'Destructive' and takes little or no brain power. It is another task alltogether to be Constructive.
If you do not like that OH Superior AVS person then tough .It's point is simple that any Gnats brain can be rude and offensive as I said It doesn't take much.
All you had to say was here try this or no mate your looking in the wrong ....not be an obnoxcious moron

my apoligy's to you other AVS members and especially those who felt it right to point me in the right direction. My thanks and I do Hope to have my First Visuals soon.
Thanks for your help

btw Atero I don't hold grudges but Slag me I slag back,Help Me and I'm Only to willing To help back as much as I can. in what ever way.

Ps Give me your opinion on my new sig. first real go at it and maybe basic by your standards but I'm allways open for Constructive critism.
Makes one work harder to achieve that which they want.
Thanks for the help. :)

Atero is beginning to really bug me now.
He is very very rude.
The point of these forums are to help, and all he can do is grizzle about the complexity of things and how much smarter and better at AVS he is than everyone else. He has a horrible superiority complex,
When he reviewed Dragon Dreams, his review was so shallow.
Incomprehensible fragments of stories, your imagination suffers.

6th January 2003 19:06 UTC

Incomprehensible fragments of stories, your imagination suffers.
That is one of the most self-contradictive statements I've ever seen

When I review packs I review them honestly. If you've got a problem with people reviewing your packs badly, then get better or get over it, cos it's not going to change. Same goes for having a problem with me. I've had a lot of people tell me the exact same thing, but the only reason I've pissed them off in the first place is because they were either a) extremely lazy or b) have a problem with 'bad' reviews. I don't really see how giving advice is 'bad' in the first place.

In any case, four out of five of the newbies on this forum bug me equally, so I guess we're even.
Atero is really starting to bug me now...
So, you're perfect then, everybody loves you? Talk about a superiority complex... :hang:

<edit> I just checked out that review of your pack again. If you'll recall I commented on how much you'd improved since you started. Since when is that shallow? </edit>

6th January 2003 21:47 UTC

god damn you people have some pointless conversations about nothing, usually involving problems with atero, everyone else deals with him fine, from what ive read yeah hes rude and whatever but hes also very helpful, stop provoking him and arguing with people you dont know, it dosent get anyone anywhere, just gets people pissed off. learn to ignore it and just take notice of whatevers helpful to stop these long pointless threads.

6th January 2003 22:27 UTC

Thank you Raz. Take a look at this picture.

7th January 2003 02:03 UTC

Lmao, funny and true.

7th January 2003 07:58 UTC

LOL

Maybe we should have a Atero warning when posting a new topic, so newbies don't get all up in arms. :)

7th January 2003 09:18 UTC

What really bugs me is: Why people ALWAYS try to "plug-in" stuff to AVS? It's hell annoying! You come here with you fancy Adobe Premiere's and Macromedia Flashesh and try to seek help how to put them in AVS. WELL YOU CAN'T! Unless you write an APE for it, but then again there are some things even and APE can't do.

Please don't try put things into AVS just because you can handle some other programm better... instead try to make it IN AVS!

Fuck this annoys me!

Oh, and if the answer that you were looking for was how to use videos and pictures in avs then why the hell you didn't say so in the first place?

And one more thing... since im in a really crappy mood with 1.5 hour of sleep last night... AVS PACKS aren't PLUGINS or COMPONENTS, they are not VISUALIZATIONS they are VISUALIZATIONS (see the point? no? good!) AVS PRESETS and AVS PRESET PACKS simply ADD some pre-defined (p r e - s e t) list of effects which are saved as *.AVS files! An AVS PRESET (the files with the extension *.avs) is a list of effects used to create what you see in the screen. Some effects can be coded by yourself, but that doesn't mean that AVS PACKS become stand-alone VISUALIZATION COMPONENTS/PLUGINS if these self coded effects are used.

GRAAAARGHL!!!!!!!!!

Oh and Atero, keep up the bitching. It's the only way people will learn  :D

7th January 2003 16:51 UTC

they are not VISUALIZATIONS they are VISUALIZATIONS
???

7th January 2003 22:41 UTC

lmao, i like your choice of words, tug

he meant that they aren't directly plugged-in visualizations (second order), they're soft-coded presets for a plugged-in visualization studio (third order).

7th January 2003 22:50 UTC

Tuggummi is right. The real power of avs is creating things that react to the music. Bitmaps or other pictures definitely don't do this unless you use them in a Texer effect and video clips don't react well. Many good presets try to take an effect from something else and recreate it in avs so that it is music responsive. These are, IMHO, some of the greatest presets available if they do it well.

your pic? Is nothing less than shameful!! These people have more strength of character ..... :hang:  This place is disgusting keep your pathetic AVS

8th January 2003 01:11 UTC

FFS stop this flaming.

Why do I keep coming across threads here covered in petrol and someone comes along with a match. I am getting sick of it.

anubis2003,

Removed you attachment some would find it offensive. I try and run a tight ship here so please no more like that.

smeggle,

I have no idea what you were trying to ask/tell. Maybe if your initial post was worded in a more coherent way they thread might not ended up as it was. Question then answer and that would have been all.

Removed you stupidly large sig it was far to big for these forums. Maybe a mistake from you end, maybe on purpose I do not know but keep it small. OK.

Atero,

How many times do you have to be told to be more polite, us regulars here know what you are like but please try and bite your tongue a little. It seems to be every week I see you in some post attacking someone. You can be a really helpfully member (and often are) but think about what you post.

Tuggummi,

Chill man, are you having a bad day. :)

8th January 2003 04:06 UTC

heh rova and I was worried about us a shunuchs :)

8th January 2003 07:53 UTC

Rova, how many times must I ignore those kinds of remarks before you get the point? Tuggummi's right, how're people like Smeggle going to learn to do a little work for themselves once and a while if they don't get a kick in the ass to get them moving? ;)

I yam what I yam and that's all that I yam. I don't stand for censorship - don't try to change me for your benefit. (Maybe I should take Pixiefied's approach and just run around naked all day...)

8th January 2003 12:25 UTC

Uhm, i hope that nobody got an impression that im AGAINST pictures and videos, some of you even know i have made a pack that used only pictures as renders and some dm's to make them do something... and i intend to use pictures and videos in the future too :)

Oh and Rovastar, yes i was in a pretty crappy mood so i apologize for my languange, but not what i said. It needed to be sayed i think.

And smeggle...

This place is disgusting keep your pathetic AVS
Yes avs is pretty pathetic when meassured in the grand world wide scale... you know, wars, hunger, a couple of guys playing "dare ya" with their hands on teh buttons... But obviously you want to make avs, so make avs! Don't listen to us, but you need to make avs with the tools avs offers. You can't come here and request something just because you use a 1000$ programm and are good at it. So yes, you can use pictures and videos and it's not a bad thing at all if it is done properly, however you can't expect the nullsoft staff to implent a new feature to avs to serve your purposes only. Besides avs hasn't been uptaded in ages (really uptaded) so there is little hope that new features will be coming anytime soon or ever...

This will be my last post for this thread... unless i get nailed to the wall for being a "nice guy" day after... :p

8th January 2003 14:52 UTC

Cool comment Tuggummi [me]giggles[/me]:D

a couple of guys playing "dare ya" with their hands on teh buttons...
.

Seems to me it just takes a bit of niceness, love, happiness and humour.

If you love AVS .... Share the love around.

My only REAL concern which I think many will find justified as from alot of the threads I have read. Is the worry that AVS will diminish into the west along with the elves (catch my drift). I just dont know why you cant type "yes you can use images such as bipmaps or video in Avi format" instead of typing another 10 sentances on how much of an idiot he is. Basically it scared him off and to be honest I have almost considered dropping it after being made to feel unwanted. But I know that's silly because AVS is good for my education and I just dont take shit.

If you dont want people contributing and support then don't be tolerant. There are a million and one other forums out there, if someone has signed up for the winamp forums and askes a ligit intent question there more than likely genuinely interested.

didn't see that pic but seems like it caused a bit of fuss.

And my biggest point, dont repremand people for certain posts unless you are a moderator it's a waste of time. If you dont like what you see look past it. Its a forum not a territory battle.

Rezpect to da Mod :igor:

Visual:igor:you know who I am:igor:Agnosia

8th January 2003 21:15 UTC

I posted the picture to show that senseless arguing on the internet was a waste of time and meant no harm over it. Also, I would like to point out that the picture was used as the picture for one of the language packs for Winamp in the components section(at least I think it was for a language pack). Don't they look at these pictures to see if they are offensive before they display them?

8th January 2003 21:25 UTC

apparently not, the real question is why not?, the answer is its too much work... Im just wondering why they have the time to browse the forums for offensive material but not the components that have been submitted???

8th January 2003 21:29 UTC

Yeah, the amount of components submitted each day is much less than the number of forum posts each day. It would only take a couple of minutes to look at all of them.

8th January 2003 22:04 UTC

I don't know why it slipped through the net for the compenets. It really shouldn't have done. You you could let me know which one I will sort it out.
Cheers.

9th January 2003 00:14 UTC
