Interference bug between AVS overlay mode & Windows Screen Saver
Hello,

there seems to be a bug in the way AVS overlay mode reacts
when Windows goes into password-protected screen saver mode.

When my win2k computer goes into screen saver mode, and
then back (let's say I move the mouse), the AVS window
just goes black and do not show the animation anymore.
I have to close AVS and start it over to get the animation
back.

I made some tests and the exact conditions are the following:
- AVS overlay mode needs to be active (any color)
- screen saver must have "protected mode" active.

It seems that when the screen saver protected mode gets active,
it kind of resets the screen, which makes overlay mode lose
the 'focus' on it.

Any help, AVS developers?

Thanks.
Alex

Don't use password protected screensavers? There's no way for us to fix the bug, we don't have access to the AVS source. Do you have the same problem with other overlay-capable utilities or plug-ins?

I do need to password-protect my screen saver.

As there is no AVS section in nullsoft's bugzilla system,
whom should I send this bug report to?

I did not try any other overlay component, since I do
not have any, but you can easily test if you have one.
