I need YOU.. again!
Yep, the time is approaching when I will be releasing another AVS pack. So I would like to once again call upon you all to give me a little help, I really like remixes and I really like the community so I would like to ask you to make me some remixes for my upcomping pack. It won't be out for a while yet (two weeks plus) but I thought that it would be better to give you all tons of time to make stuff, especially since some of you are busy with your own packs and other projects.

I've zipped up three random presets from my pack for you to play with. I would like to see some remixes of my other work (pack 6, pack 5 etc...) to add some variety, but I don't mind if you only use these. There is also an unfinished preset on deviantART, which I am still working on but could be used as a basis for a remix, you can find that here:

http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/813944

If I like you enough I can send you, by email (not through the forums for obvious reasons), some more presets to work with if you totally dislike these ones.

There will be some quality control done by me, I will probably only add the best <insert random number here> presets to the pack.

Thanks in advance.

May as well start the ball rolling.

It's just a dynamic Bizarre Space Twisting from jeriko 2.

24th October 2002 14:49 UTC

cool. thanks

26th October 2002 14:25 UTC

Tweaked it a touch more, so it changes more smoothly. and the distortion rotates.

27th October 2002 12:37 UTC

Two remixes from me:
- Inside a Cube (Macro revision)
- Smoking Particles (Micro Revision)

27th October 2002 12:58 UTC

Thanks skupers. The smoking particles one is really cool and I like the texture for the other one.

I still have 7 more presets to make so remember there is not a huge rush. Especially since I just got a job so I'm going to have even less time to work on my AVS presets. :(

27th October 2002 22:46 UTC

Congrats on the job.

27th October 2002 22:57 UTC

Thanks. I'm going to be building and testing computers for the next week, maybe even more if I'm lucky... *and* I'll be getting paid to do it (its almost a dream come true :)). Next I need to find a job where I can make AVS for a living. :p

I just got another preset finished up so I've got 6 left now.

Please keep the remixes coming (I'm secretly hoping that many of you have got some killer plans for some of my stuff). If you want any more material to work with just give me an e-mail and I can send you some more J7 presets.

Remixes...

28th October 2002 18:03 UTC

Cool. Thanks buddy, I like the warped topology rmx the best.

(First day at work... just got home... I'm cream crackered)

30th October 2002 08:11 UTC

Updated versions of my remixes + a new remix.
The zip contains:
- Smoking Particles (Micro Revision)
- Inside A Cube (Macro Revision)
- Just Go With The Flow (Meso Revision)

30th October 2002 21:01 UTC

Poo... I just sorted those three into the pack. ;)

30th October 2002 21:24 UTC

Hehe... I made a spelling mistake in my DM code for 'Just Go With The Flow'. Enjoy a corrected and far more dynamic and interesting version of the (original) preset. I'll fix your mix too skup, it looks so much cooler with the fix. :)

31st October 2002 03:53 UTC

Hey man, that looks pretty nice.

Here's an even twistier tweak of my submission above. I was also wondering if I could use the twistiest tweak in my next pack (I even get it done)

31st October 2002 18:55 UTC

Go ahead.

Just for the record anyone can remix my presets for their own packs or can steal large chunks of presets to build there own. If there is a large amount of preset being copied then I'd like some credit.

I'll make some kind of comment in my next pack intro adressing this I think.

here's a wee suggestion for your smoke pluggin. its not really a remix, i've just stuck a video delay in there and it looks pretty lush as long as whatever your listening to's bpm is fairly fixed.

6th November 2002 04:05 UTC

A remix, enjoy! ;)

6th November 2002 06:55 UTC

No, not MORE!!!

6th November 2002 13:45 UTC

here is two remixes for you, jheriko, nothing special, just some more colorful elements, and oh, can i use the remixes in my next pack?, i need to fill up my pack

6th November 2002 18:59 UTC

Yes Montana, you can use them in your pack.

Thank you for all of the contributions... expect the pack to be released next week, maybe even this Sunday if I'm felling nifty. (equally likely to be next Sunday though)

Expect 20 original presets and a shit ton of remixes.

9th November 2002 02:46 UTC

One more ;)

9th November 2002 09:24 UTC

Late as usual ;)
Here's my remixes for J7, hope they aren't late...

10th November 2002 23:23 UTC

Wow. I'm going to have to go through all of these remixes and pick out the best ones soon. I'm still tweaking a few presets up but the pack should be ready soon.

:)

11th November 2002 11:01 UTC

Here is my rmx, hope I am not too late whith this one. I would have done it sooner but I just cant force myself to make/rmx a preset - I do it when I feel inspired.

11th November 2002 18:18 UTC

There is still plenty of time... chill. :)

15th November 2002 20:50 UTC

Pack will be released on sunday. If you still want to submit remixes you'd better hurry up!!!

4th December 2002 03:18 UTC

Okay, here's my pitiful attempt...
It's not much, just moved a few things and added a color-shifted version of the Imperial Crest for the Render>Picture - necessary bitmap enclosed.

As I said...not much, but...it's my best offer :p Hope ya like it.

4th December 2002 18:05 UTC

Where to bein with whats wrong here? Let's see...

1.) My pack was released a while ago. (check the dates of posts in future)
2.) You removed the alpha blending from the preset, which made it look like poo in the distance.

Sorry, but thats the way it is. My next pack isn't near completion yet and I probably won't be having remixes for it so you'll have to wait for Pack 9 now... hmm pack 9 <-> PAK-9, that gives me an idea... bye!

4th December 2002 19:16 UTC

Alpha blending? ALPHA blending?!
<MrT>Whut you talkin' bout, foo?</MrT>

But seriously, J, that "poo in the distance" is meant to be there - it's a static haze (static as in 'snow on a TV set' static, not static as in stationary), as if whatever is scanninng the tunnel can't penetrate, as if it's being jammed by electronic countermeasures.

4th December 2002 19:31 UTC

"Just because nobody understands you doesn't mean you're an artist."
(read: Just because you meant it to be there doesn't mean it looks good. If it looks like shit (which it does) it doesn't matter what you meant to do with it - it will continue to look like shit.)

6th December 2002 04:00 UTC

That's the point, Atero...
Static isn't supposed to look good, it's supposed to deceive. Especially ECM static - that stuff, if it were given a visible form, would probably look butt-ugly.

Still, perhaps I could tweak the static a bit...make it look lress poo-like... :P

6th December 2002 05:01 UTC

That's like saying "I want it to be ugly" and expecting us to go, "OOOH, AHH!"

6th December 2002 15:14 UTC

As I said in the post before yours, Atero, it still needs a bit of tweaking. I'm trying to figure out a way for the static not to be so ugly. Perhaps if I could turn it into floating shapes that occlude each other and the end of the tunnel....that might work.

Now to make the idea a reality...

6th December 2002 17:39 UTC

THIS THREAD IS OLD AND DECREPIT - STOP BRINGING IT BACK UP DAMMIT.

6th December 2002 18:23 UTC

Atero: Let Clashman do what he wants, its his choice if he wants to make his presets 'look like poo'.

Clashman: That 'static' was never intended to be anything, it is a by product of my DM and I hid it by using alpha fog, you just revealed it again.
