how do you get ppl to dload your avs packs?
i kinda summed it up in the title really...
although on the same point go and check out my latest pack, filled with 3d superscopes, interesting dynamic movements and a solid 3d rotating sphere with a specular highlight...
You can download it here.
IF there is a better way than just posting up a link like this then plz do tell.
thx in advance

Take the initiative and download other people's work? If everyone sits around waiting for his/her pack to be downloaded, there's not much 'community' involved ;)

i download about ten avs packs a week, many of them get deleted but i have about 30-40 at the moment. i guess that they are probably just not good enough to get huge amounts of downloads. maybe when they get put up here they will get more attention :)

If only i knew...
I wouldn't mind a few more downloads myself. Stars are nice but it's the number of downloads that people look at most. The community angle is probably the way to go (i.e. wanton suck-ups). That's why i'm gonna have a look at what you've got, Jericho - because you gave a real nice comment for mine. After all... if we don't encourage each other we might lose some really great artists before they learn how good you can get with a little practice.

Personally I think the best why of getting downlaods is
a) Make by far and away the best pack out there. It will get noticed
or more likely
b) Comment on other peoples work to. If you comment on all the new AVS packs. at winamp.com, these forums (join in a lot), deviant, etc.
People will comment on your work too. People will become more curious. THe casual visitors (I include myself in this) prefer to download the authors I know. The more you chat and join in and comment the more I am likely to download you packs.
I may take a few months but you will get there.

A really "nifty" screenshot helps way too much than it should, but hey it's the world that sets the rules not us.
(you only have to look at LaserZ to clerify that argument)
So concetrate on the screenshot next time a lot more.

you have to have a reputation of making good avs packs, if not you have to make that one great pack and follow it up with even greater pack.
so work on those presets,
don't give the pack lame names, (this doesn't matter as much but it helps if the pack name don't sound to newbie-lik)
and a good ("glossy") screenshot always works

i think this was my first ever thread...
anyway, i'm deep into pack vi now. i took a little break last night to make my minipack but other than that its going well.
so things i need to make this pack really good
- snazzy screenie
- killer code
- better pack title
- time - i.e. more than my ususal 20-40 minutes on a preset
okay, pack vi is going to rock your world. my patience has sky rocketed recently and that has always been the biggest factor in the quality of my work (i spent a whole hour on a preset earlier :D).
and check
this out, looks like i'm starting to get the reputation i would have had by now if i had internet access and spare time this time last year.
thanks for the advice.
