question about keeping AVS in fullscreen while using "auto, mouse 1, mouse 2, etc..."
Please forgive me if this is adressed somewhere else, I searched and couldn't find it.

If I am using a preset with "experimental" aspects to it to where you can switch from "auto" to "mouse 1" to "mouse 2" and like that (a prime example is S_KuPeRS '25 - recovering from fate (the way things change) from the lp8 pack) if I am in fullscreen and I click on the screen to change which setting I am using, it goes back to windowed mode, so basically I cant figure out how to switch from 'auto' to 'mouse 1' without going back and forth between fullscreen and windowed. Is there any way to fix this?

I fear I have made this question incredibly more complex than it needs to be; I was trying to be complete in my description. I hope someone can decipher it!:)

13th February 2005 00:22 UTC

use keyboard keys

13th February 2005 01:33 UTC

Wow, I feel kind of stupid, as that is an obvious solution. But which keys would I use?

13th February 2005 03:03 UTC

or use right click and left click

13th February 2005 04:35 UTC

right click or left click? No, thats what makes it go from full to windowed, jheriko.

13th February 2005 08:28 UTC

if you leftclick in fullscreen, it will go back to windowed. if you rightclick in windowed, it opens the popup menu. so you need both. make a code that supports both keys! (i could tell you the code but its so easy to do that i wont :p)

13th February 2005 11:49 UTC

Just use something like: click=bor(rightclick,leftclick)

Left click works in windowed
Right click works in fullscreen

Easy as $pi^e.

13th February 2005 13:09 UTC

I usually dont bother supporting mouse in fullscreen, because if people fullscreen the preset they probably want to watch it not play with it.

You can 'guess' if a preset is in fullscreen by using the width or height, then you can modify it so that mouse control stuff doesnt appear or it is different somehow.

fullscrn=above(w,639); //1 if the AVS window is 640 wide or more

13th February 2005 18:40 UTC

I don't really understand what you are talking about. Enter a code where? It may be easy as $pi^e for you AVS experts, but I'm just one of the guys who likes to watch (and play with it too, PAK 9) But since I know you guys are like famous and stuff, (Tuggummi, I am a fan) I will assume it may be figured out easily. somewhere in the config menu, maybe?

13th February 2005 20:15 UTC

Aah, so you're not making a preset yourself? Okay.

We were talking about how you implent that support for your own presets (supposedly you would be making one), but since you aren't this whole thread became pretty pointless just about now :)

The thing is that "support" for such interactive features in fullscreen need to be coded in to the preset itself. There is no option on the preferences or the likes to magically turn it on, because the author of the preset has to make it so that you can use the features on fullscreen too. So it's up to the preset whether or not the features will work on fullscreen, but i still urge you to try out the rightclick on fullscreen, atleast all of my presets (the very few) which have interactive features should have rightclick support.

14th February 2005 04:45 UTC

Actually, rightclick doesn't do anything when I click in fullscreen, but I will play around with it. I never thought about the fact that I didn't make it clear if I was making a preset. Duh. (I plan on it someday, but I don't have any math knowledge except basic algebra) Thank you thank you for the patience and time taken to answer this board. You rock. :)

14th February 2005 13:57 UTC

I knew I smelt noob

j/k

14th February 2005 17:30 UTC

lol, You are correct, PAK-9, I am indeed a noob. I apologize for the unclearness. By the way, I am just now realizing that you are all famous. PAK-9 and jheriko, of course I've seen your work and definetly liked what I saw. (Warrior and hboy I am also familiar with) Maybe that doesn't mean much coming from a noob, but to paraphrase; "I may not know how to make a preset, but I know what I like.") I hope someday I will be asking you guys a legitimate technical AVS question. You have already taught me something (I had no idea that the interactive stuff could be coded into the preset.) You all rock. :)

14th February 2005 18:25 UTC

Yea I'm a real superstar, not like Tugg, he's a real phoney

14th February 2005 20:31 UTC

:D and then i am also cooler than many of you non-famous people

14th February 2005 22:39 UTC

Don't listen to PAK-9, he's just jealous because of my ÜBER-BLANDTHESTICS SKILLZZZ!!!

Oh wait...

...

Nevermind, im pretty sure i got it so it makes me look cool.

15th February 2005 03:56 UTC

Just while this thread is still around...what specific mathematics skills would get me on the road to making a good preset? Or do you pretty much have a complete grasp of geometry, trig, and calculus (not to mention algebra)? I suppose I am looking for a "shortcut" to a good preset if it's possible. *looks hopeful* :)

I don't know nothing about those, to me they sound like french cousines. Mmm... *drools*

I learned things over the years, but i never have learned anything about maths nor will i ever do. But im sure all the other people will tell you to learn this & that in order to AVS properly :p

15th February 2005 14:55 UTC

I personally wouldnt say you need a lot of maths to make AVS, it helps, but its not necessary. You can sit and read maths textbooks for hours but you'll find hardly any of it can be directly applied to making AVS presets. Its better to think of what you want to do, then think about what maths (if any) is required to solve that problem.

In my opinion (and I stress this is just my opinion) programming prowess is much more important in AVS than maths, if you have a good grasp of the language you can implement what you see in your mind much more easily. Search the forums for tutorials, if you want it my programming guide is here:

15th February 2005 18:55 UTC

Thanks, guys. I always figured math was responsible for all presets. If it's programming, heck; I can learn as much as the next guy. (Honestly: both you and Tuggummi have made some of the BEST presets I've ever seen, I can't believe you don't know any super-math to do them! lol) Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

17th February 2005 18:12 UTC

Well its all relative, sometimes you tell people "just learn some basic algebra" but they're in primary school learning long division so you get

"OMG algegabra! u got 2 b teh l33x0rest 2 know that!"

17th February 2005 22:54 UTC

Lol, well I am long out of school, so I have at least a rudimentry grasp of algebra. And I have worked somewhat with programming lang. before, so along with a tutorial or 2 or 3, I should be able to figure something out.

18th February 2005 13:25 UTC

Wow, a noob who knows their place and expects to have to work at AVS to get results, your a rare breed my friend, a rare breed.

That doesn't exactly sound "encouraging" PAK-9 :p

19th February 2005 15:00 UTC

i guess pak wanted to say, that most other noobs expect some divine power coming over them after asking one simple question in the forums. and afterwards they'll be capable of doing 3d-scopes/3d-dm's/raytracing/...

That's because all the divine power is mine and i shall never share it! bwahahahahahahahhahahahahhahaha!

*runs away screaming*

20th February 2005 11:41 UTC

can someone call a doctor please? :p

20th February 2005 15:36 UTC

He's too far gone, just tranq him and lock him up

20th February 2005 16:14 UTC

hey pak im going to trip him up, grab that straitjacket and be prepared to catch him!!!
i'll count to three...

20th February 2005 22:17 UTC

/Cocks tranquiliser gun

You can trip him if you like I'm still gunna shoot the bastard

20th February 2005 22:33 UTC

you could need the "T.U.G. A.I.M. 3000" laser guided aiming assistant, which i accidentally found in my pocket...

20th February 2005 23:24 UTC

Too late I already shot him 47 times in the head

20th February 2005 23:31 UTC

show-off! your boasting nearly killed him!
Shame on you!

Well at least he's "calmed down" again.
mission accomplished!

20th February 2005 23:40 UTC

Huh? Sorry I was busy seeing how many tranq darts I could shoot into his left leg.

Now where was I... 89, 90, 91

20th February 2005 23:44 UTC

you seriously need new glasses, cause that's not tug where you are counting. It's the wall that recieved 90% of your shots... :p

20th February 2005 23:48 UTC

I'll show YOU need new glasses!

/Turns gun on ^..^

21st February 2005 00:00 UTC

/gets out bottle of coke, two espresso's and some coffein-pills and devours that mix
come on, now try to tranquillize me. You won't even get me dazed a bit.. ;)

21st February 2005 00:04 UTC

Damn

21st February 2005 00:11 UTC

stalemate :D
let's get something to drink while we have to wait untill tug regains consciousness...
i'll care for the beer and you bring some scampi fires?

21st February 2005 00:15 UTC

I dont think tuggs gunna be regaining conciousness

21st February 2005 00:24 UTC

however...
but some beer and crisps would still be nice, wouldn't they?

21st February 2005 00:30 UTC

I already have beer and crisps, I'm sitting in the cafe waiting for someone to pick up that damn second gamepad so I can play SFA3

21st February 2005 00:37 UTC

as i said, you could need some new glasses: im sitting next to you already ;)
where is that gamepad?

22nd February 2005 13:07 UTC

*wakes up*

*feels dizzy*

*grumbles*

"You wankaaaaaaaarghzzzz...."

*falls down*

*passes out again*

22nd February 2005 13:18 UTC

btw pak, hope you didn't forget to put the "won't-remember-anything" addition into the sedative?!

23rd February 2005 21:14 UTC

oh yea let me just get that "won't-remember-anything" additive

/picks up big mallet

23rd February 2005 21:21 UTC

*wakes up just in time*

Oooh NO YOU WON'T!!!

/me picks up a flamethrower and burns PAK-9's mallet to ashes.

23rd February 2005 21:23 UTC

that was my GOOD MALLET!

DIEEEIEIEEEEE

23rd February 2005 21:52 UTC

/takes fire extinguisher (secretly adds "won't-remember-anything"-powder into it)

/puts out the fire

/all of a sudden swings around and blows tug, but at once:

*KaaboOOom!!!!*

24th February 2005 17:24 UTC

This thread has been derailed, fallen off a cliff and sunk to the bottom of the sea.

24th February 2005 17:32 UTC

yeah... it's a pitty.. it wasn't the poor thread's fault...

but it was funny :D

24th February 2005 17:34 UTC

^..^ I just have to ask (and this seems like a good place since its already totally derailed) do you LIVE in the winamp forums, it seems like your always here every second of the damn day.

24th February 2005 17:47 UTC

Actually i have you shadowed, pak, so BEWARE!!!
Muarhahrrahrharr!!! I know everthing bout you...

nope.. the problem is, that outlook checks my email account every 5 minutes, so i nearly immediately recieve those "reply to thread" mails... That alone wouldn't be the problem, but my PC is directly next to my desk, and im learning/working for uni there most of the day.. (preperation for some pre exams.. it's the time without lectures at the moment).
And this thread shows how easy you get changed of the subject ;).

I've done the same for MaTT :)
Wanna trade profiles? ;)

or nude pics?

24th February 2005 17:54 UTC

I have a shrine to Tugg in my closet, I just need a couple of fingernails and a pair of glasses and its complete.

24th February 2005 18:11 UTC

erm nmo thanks tugg.. im not that curious bout matt's nude pics.. thanks anyways... But if you want some data from paks profile you could help me getting some things, i need for a special voodoo doll. Well my "voodoo shopping list©" says:

Something of the thread,
something of the head,
something of the body and
something of the dead.

I've already got a copy of one of his threads backuped, also i've got the picture of his body (from the comic and avatar). I still need the other things, any idea?

24th February 2005 18:15 UTC

I can mail you my dog's fingernails and my grandmama's glasses for you, for a reasonable prize of course heh heh hee

^..^, I don't know about the dead, but for the head you could just rip one of PAK's code heavy presets ;)
Although it is rumored that there was once a picture of PAK-9 online... but it's just a internet myth.

24th February 2005 18:21 UTC

Don't wanna have some detailed information bout pakkie?
btw i need things that have to do with pak... so what the heck does your dog, your grandma and pak have in common?

oh well.. better don't answere this.. i probably don't want to know this..

24th February 2005 18:25 UTC

That fingernail and glasses offering was for PAK ;)

24th February 2005 20:34 UTC

oh must have failed to notice that.:igor: now as you say it's obvious...
However thanks for the "head" idea. only one more to go. let's see if i can find that pic...

28th February 2005 13:57 UTC

You'll never make it, my goon Largo Le'Grande is waiting to intercept you as we speak

28th February 2005 15:36 UTC

well, then you'll also know that governor marley is on my side (at least mostly..) so largo has to deal with her first :p

28th February 2005 17:17 UTC

Pah! Everyone knows Gov. Marley and you are old news, ever since you tried to steal her fathers piece of the big whoop treasure map

28th February 2005 17:53 UTC

You cant fool me that easily, your gunna steal a mallet and nails from that carpenter on scabb island and nail me into an early grave... ADMIT IT!

28th February 2005 18:22 UTC

If you looked into my pockets you will already find those accessories. Damn, busted...

Ok then i'm going to kidnap Wally B. Feed and you have to free him! Har har harr!

1st March 2005 19:09 UTC

Oh yea? Well I am rubber you are glue

1st March 2005 20:38 UTC

Ah, you are no match for my brains, you poor fool!

1st March 2005 22:32 UTC

I declare this thread independent!

No longer are you force to talk about AVS in the AVS world, just come to this thread and be free to talk about anything! Freedom of speech! Right to carry chuddies! Our post-pumping army will be unstoppable! And any terro... err i mean moderator who threatens our way of life shall be hunted down and punished in a way that we find appropriate (to our own needs)!

Brothers! Unite!

1st March 2005 23:23 UTC

I will subscribe to this declaration of idependence. Has anyone got a pen?

3rd March 2005 00:06 UTC

whats AVS?

I declare this thread... PAKNONIA! I was gunna call it Pakland but that gay bar down by the airport already took it.

3rd March 2005 00:26 UTC

Well my name is still free of use, so i declare this thread: ^..^land. Thus we have a "xxxx-land" name for this thread. Also it sounds much better than paknonia (which actually sounds like a infectious disease or something). Mine is more like a massage to the ears. ;)

3rd March 2005 00:41 UTC

A massage to the ears... even though you can actually say it out loud. I mean seriously, how do you say that? Caretdotdotcircumflexland, mmmm catchy.

3rd March 2005 01:12 UTC

how you spell it is up to you! So go and be creative ;)

3rd March 2005 01:22 UTC

I thought I was being quite creative with Caretdotdotcircumflexland.

Face it your handle sucks

3rd March 2005 01:36 UTC

And what's yours supposed to mean? Think it's better?
Yeah abbreviations are cool!

what about: PAK = Proky Arsenical Kitten ? :p

3rd March 2005 01:42 UTC

tut tut, and you call yourself a quake fan. My handle is a witty and esoterical reference to quake and planetquake... but I wouldnt expect you to get it.

3rd March 2005 11:03 UTC

i never said that im a quake fan. I never was interested that much in clans, online-fights and stuff. I just like to play it and am not that bad..

Well, actually it was only supposed to be funny... but I wouldnt expect you to get it. ;)

4th March 2005 16:38 UTC

It get it... it just aint funny

4th March 2005 20:33 UTC

^ I concur with his excellency. ^

6th March 2005 16:25 UTC

pah... you both smell..
